According to the State Border Service data, in January-May 2022 Azerbaijan received 468,1 thousand or 2,2 times more foreigners and stateless persons from 157 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 24,8 percent percent of the arrivals were from Türkiye, 24,7 percent – Russian Federation, 13,8 percent – Iran, 5,6 percent – Georgia, 3,7 percent – Saudi Arabia, 2,8 percent – United Arab Emirates, 2,7 percent – Ukraine, per 2,4 percent – India and Pakistan, 1,7 – Kazakhstan, 1,3 percent – Kuwait, 1,2 percent - Great Britain, 12,9 percent – were citizens of other countries. 79,7 percent of the arrivals were men and 20,3 percent were women.                             

In comparison with the same period last year, the number of arrivals from Oman increased by 505,9 times, Saudi Arabia – 198,2 times, Kuwait – 172,8 times, Bahrain – 70,8 times, United Arab Emirates – 69,5, Pakistan – 44,0 times, India – 26,5 times, Israel – 9,1 times, USA – 6,0 times, Kazakhstan – 5,0 times, Germany – 3,5 times, France – 3,3 times, Ukraine – 2,2 times, Great Britain – 2,1 times, Türkiye – 2,1 times, Iran – 1,8 times, Russia – 1,6 times, Georgia – 17,7 times.

Compared to January-May 2021, the number of arrivals from Gulf countries increased by 2,9 times and amounted to 107,9 thousand persons, from EU member countries increased by 2,6 times and amounted to 22,6 thousand persons, from the CIS countries it increased by 1,8 times and amounted to 149,7 thousand persons.

54,0 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used air, 44,2 percent – railway and automobile, 1,8 percent – water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 2,4 times compared with January-May 2021 and amounted to 530,2 thousand persons, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased 5,0 times, Türkiye – 2,8 times, Georgia – 2,1 times, Russia – 1,5 times. 46,8 percent of the country citizens traveled to Türkiye, 15,6 percent - Russia, 13,3 percent - Iran, 8,2 percent – Georgia and 16,1 percent to other countries. 66,7 percent of the travelers were men and 33,3 percent were women.

In January-May 2022, 55,4 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using air, 41,8 percent – railway and automobile, 2,8 percent – water transport.
