On November 5, the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an event dedicated to November 8-Victory Day.

At the beginning, the memory of our heroic martyrs who died in the 44-day Patriotic War was commemorated with a minute’s silence.

Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee made opening speech and noted that as a result of the determination of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the courage of the victorious Azerbaijani army, our territorial integrity was restored, and the Patriotic War turned into the brightest page of our history, the source of pride and honour of Azerbaijan people, he emphasized a close cohesion of our people around the “Iron Fist”, the love of our youth for the Motherland, the unity of the government, the people and the army. He said that our glorious army, heroic soldiers and officers, who made history in the 44-day struggle for justice, demonstrated to the whole world a strong state and strong army strategy, national unity, solidarity and strong will. Drawing attention to the restoration work carried out in the liberated territories, the chairman of the committee pointed out the importance of the return of our internally displaced compatriots who left their homes 30 years ago and yearned for their native land to their ancestral lands in the liberated territories as a result of the successful Great Return program pursued by the President Ilham Aliyev.

Later, the employees of the Committee, who were participants of the 44-day Patriotic War, spoke at the event, talked about the war they witnessed live, shared their memories and talked about the joy of victory they experienced.

Then a film dedicated to November 8-Victory Day was demonstrated.

At the end, a group of employees of the State Statistical Committee was awarded the medal “For distinction in the public service” for effective work in the public service in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 3335 dated 22 June, 2022 on “Awarding public officials”. The Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Tahir Budagov congratulated civil servants on the high state award and wished them success in their difficult and honorable work and future activities.
