On October 2-4, 2024, II International Statistical Forum, and within the Forum, the 70th meeting of the Council of the Heads of Statistical Services of CIS Member States, are being jointly organized by the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee in Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan. Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Tahir Budagov, is representing our country at the event.

At the forum dedicated to new data sources, the best practices related to the use of modern information technologies in the field of official statistics are shared, as well as the modernization of statistical production processes in the context of digital transformation, the scenarios for the use of alternative data sources, big data, and artificial intelligence for the production of official statistics, the requirements for the statistical education and other topical matters are being discussed. The event consists of sessions on data management, integration of information resources at the national level, challenges and priorities in the field of statistical education, new technologies for collecting, processing, analyzing and disseminating statistical data, big data and administrative data, artificial intelligence and official statistics.

During the 70th meeting of the Council of the Heads of Statistical Services, the activities of the Council in 2020-2023, the progress of work on the implementation of the project “Development of Statistics of the CIS” and the issues of expanding the project, the work done on the Global International Program of Comparisons based on the purchasing power parity of currencies, the formation of the food balance and other issues are planned for discussion.
