On October 9, Mr. Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee, met with Ms. Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Director General of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and SESRIC in recent years. It was noted that new directions of cooperation have emerged between the two organizations in accordance with the “Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of statistics between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries”, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on April 16, 2021. It was emphasized that implementation of the Memorandum continues to significantly contribute to the further development and improvement of the official statistical system of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as statistical capacity building through the exchange of statistical data, study visits, seminars, and strengthening the cooperation.

Ms. Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Director General of SESRIC, thanked Mr. Tahir Budagov for the cordial meeting and highlighted the positive outcomes of cooperation with the State Statistical Committee in all areas. She expressed her satisfaction with the active participation of the Committee in the events organized by SESRIC and emphasized that relevant necessary measures will continue to be taken within the framework of the Memorandum.

Following this, both sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
