Chairman of the State Statistical Committee, Azer Mursagulov, held a meeting with Athanasios Thanopoulos, Deputy Director-General of the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), during his visit to Geneva, Switzerland.

The meeting focused on the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Eurostat in the field of statistics, as well as prospects for its development.

One of the main topics of the discussions was the global assessment process to be conducted by Eurostat at the end of the year. In this context, a detailed exchange of views took place on the implementation mechanisms, timetable and work plan for the global assessment.

The purpose of the global assessment is to determine the compliance of national statistical systems with European and international statistical standards, the European Statistics Code of Practice and the Statistical Requirements Compendium of Eurostat.
