Demographic situation in Azerbaijan

Last year number of population of the Republic of Azerbaijan was 120.6 thousand person or it was increased by 1.3% and became 9477.1 thousand person at the beginning of 2014.
In 2013total growth on number of population was mainly due to natural increase. As well as, increase in migration was observed and this factor was formed 1.8% of total population growth.
Density of the country population made 109 persons per square km. 53.2% of population live in urban areas and 46.8% in rural areas, 49.7 % of population was men, 50.3% - women and there are 1000 women per 1012 men.
Last year number of births in Azerbaijan was more 118.3 thousand persons than the number of deaths. So, 172.6 thousand infant were born in 2013, this indicator was formed 18.6% of per 1000 person. 53.6% of births were boys, 46.4% - girls. 2270 of infants were twins, 42 – triplets.
On average 2.2 born children are per the share of reproductive women in the country and that provides reproduction of population.
During the last year by the account of per 1000 person number of deaths in the country were decreased from 6.0 to 5.8 compared to 2012.
86.9 thousand marriages and 11.7 thousand divorce were registered in the country during 2013 and by the account of per 1000 person number of marriages compared to last year increased from 8.6 to 9.3 and number of divorces from 1.2 to 1.3.
3.1 thousand persons came to Azerbaijan for permanent residence and 0.8 thousand persons left the country were registered by the corresponding authorities of Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Migration Service in 2013. Number of persons came to Azerbaijan for permanent residence increased by 957 persons or 44.1% in 2013 compared to 2012.
