Macro-economic indicators of economic and social development of the country in January-February, 2014

Positive changes in main economic indicators reflecting the changes in the social and economic life of the country in January were also observed in February.
Output of Gross Domestic Product compared to January-February, 2013 increased by 1.6% and become to 8.5 milliard manat. 50.0% of value added created in the field of industry, 8.8% in the complex of construction, and 11.6 % in trade and in the field of paid service, 6.3% in transport, 1.9% in communication enterprises and 2.5% in agrarian, 11.9% in other fields. On average for per capita in amount of 903.5 manat (1151.9 US dollars) value added were produced and it was increased by 0.3% compared to the corresponding period of last year.
53.9 % of value added produced in non-oil sector increased by 8.8% compared to January-February of last year and it was decreased by 5.7% in oil-gas sector.
During January-February, 2014 in amount of 5.4 milliard manat or less than 0.4% compared to corresponding period of last year industry products were produced by industry enterprises and natural entities engaged in this field. The main reason for this reduction was due to the decline in oil production. 3.9 milliard manat or 71.6% of product was produced in mining sector, 6.8 million tons oil and 31 milliard cubic meters marketable gas was produced.
During two months in amount of 1.1 milliard manat or more than 0.3% industry output were produced in the processing field of industry. Output of food products in the section increased by 4.0%, output of products on weaving industry – 9.1%, production of clothing – 9.5%, production of chemistry industry products – 15.5%, metallurgy industry - 47.0%, production of construction materials – 10.6%, production of machine and equipment – 26.8%, production of electronic equipment – 53.2%, production of automobile and trailers – 3.3 times, production of other transport means – 3.2 times, production of furniture – 19.5%, output of equipment on jewelry, music, sport and medicine – 20.9%, maintenance and installation of machine and equipment – 2.1 times.
Production output in the unit of distribution and supply on electricity, gas and steam 6.7 % or 363.4 million manat of industry products was produced. Produced 4.0 milliard kilowatt hour electricity was more than 4.3 % compared to the level of last year.
Production output in the unit of water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased by 13.3 %.
Production output in the field of non-oil sector increased by 8.8 % but in gas-oil sector it was decreased by 4.8 %.
During two months 98.7% of produced products were sent to consumers. However, considering the balance of the previous periods of industrial enterprises, in amount of 322.8 million manat ready products were in the warehouses and it was increased by 35.0 million manat compared to the previous month.
Workers of the section of agrarian started sowing of plant-growing. Until the 1st March in the area of 46.6 thousand hectare spring sowings were planted, as well as, in the area of 1.6 thousand – grain and grain-crops, in the area of 11.3 hectare – potato, in the area of 6.9 thousand hectare – vegetable, in the area of 26.7 hectare –perennial grasses.
From animal-produce in live weight production of meat increased by 1.7 thousand tons or 2.4 % and became 71.0 thousand tons, production of milk increased by 8.7 thousand tons or 3.4% became 264.5 thousand tons, production of egg increased by 25.9 million units or 12.1% became 240.5 million units, from plant-growing 3764.1 tons (more than 12.1%) vegetables were produced. Increasing on output of noted products was provided the total output level more than last year by 3.4%.
For the implementation of construction works in the country from all financial sources in amount of 1824.6 million manat or more than 7.9 % corresponding period of 2013 funds were directed to the fixed assets. 1145.0 million manat of funds directed to the fixed assets were used in the building and assembly jobs and increased by 28.1% in the compared period. 70.7% or 1290.2 million manat of fixed assets were used in the construction of production facilities, 66.1 % (1205.8 million manat) of it was domestic investments.
During two months with total area of 222.9 thousand square metre new dwellings as well as, secondary schools with 660 places for pupils, pre-school institutions with 270 places, hospital with 200 beds, Health Centre in Baku city - new administrative-academic complex of National Conservatory, in Sumgait city - Azerbaijan paper and cardboard factory, Oil factory, Copper processing plant, in Gabala region - first stage of “Tufan” Alpine Skiing Summer and Winter Recreation Complex, in Goy-Gol region – Olympic Sport Complex and Youth Centre and others were put into operation.
During two months 32.8 million tons cargo and 272.8 million person passengers were transported by the natural entities and transport enterprises engaged in transportation of goods and passengers. In comparison with January-February of last year, more than 0.5% cargo and more than 6.2 % passengers were transported.
As in the last year, also in the current year information and communication sector is developing rapidly. From the beginning of the year during the last two months communication enterprises were rendered in amount of 243.9 million manat communication services to population, enterprises and organizations. Volume of communication services increased by 11.2% compared to January-February, 2013, 72.4 % of it was rendered to population.
According to the data received from the State Customs Committee during January in amount of 2406.0 million US dollars trade were carried out with foreign countries, as well as, in amount of 535.2 million dollars import and in amount of 1870.8 million dollars export operation were carried out and in amount of 1335.6 million dollars positive balance were formed.
Relatively to the January of 2013 value of commodity exchange with comparable prices decreased by 3.6%, as well as, the volume of export – 0.2% and volume of import by 15.7%. 91.6% or 2204.1 million dollars of trade relations realized with far foreign countries (excluding CIS member countries), 8.4 % or 201.9 million dollars by CIS member countries. Volume of trade operations with these regions were correspondingly decreased by 0.7% and 28.6% with comparable prices.
In comparison with January, 2013 value of exported goods to far foreign countries (excluding CIS member countries) with comparable prices increased by 1.8% and in amount of 1792.9 million dollars products were sent. As well as, volume of exported goods to CIS member countries decreased by 30.7% and formed 77.9 million dollars.
In January the country received in amount of 411.2 million dollars of imported goods from far foreign countries (excluding CIS member countries) and 124.0 million dollars from CIS member countries, correspondingly it was decreased by 11.4 % and 27.3%.
Taking into account the data of State Oil Company and AIOC foreign trade turnover on export of crude oil and gas was formed 3195.5 million dollars, as well as, export – 2660.3 million dollars and 2125.1 million dollars positive balance was created.
During two months of 2014 income of per person of country residents on average increased by 2.8 % and reached to 601.8 manat. 72.1 % of income was spent to final consumption, 8.9% - taxes, payment of social insurance and voluntary membership, 16.8% - increasing of deposits and capital.
Increase of salary/wage of employed persons has a great importance in increase of income. During January average monthly salary/wage of employed persons increased by 6.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2013 and formed 426.3 manat.
Along with the increase of incomes the demand of consumer goods of the population also increases. During two months in amount of 3193.3 million manat consumer goods were received by people and instead of rendered services they paid 1010.3 million manat. Compared to January-February, 2013 commodity circulation was increased by 9.0%, as well as, selling of food products – 0.9%, selling of non-food products – 20.1%, volume of paid services – 6.9%.
In February compared to January prices and service tariffs of consumer goods increased by 0.4%, as well as prices of food products – 0.8%, service tariffs and prices of non-food products was stable as in January. Prices and service tariffs of consumer goods during January-February compared to the corresponding period of 2013 increased by 2.1%, as well as prices of food products – 2.4%, prices of non-food products – 3.5% and prices of service – 0.2%.
According to the data of Ministry of Finance in January in amount of 1751.7 million manat fund were received by the state budget, in amount of 1726.8 million manat were spent from budget, 1253.3 million manat of allocated fund were directed to the development of economy, 206.1 million manat – social protection and social security, 45.4 million manat – education and health.
In amount of 15.5 milliard manat credit were given to natural and legal entities by finance-credit organizations of the country until the 1st February, 2014. The volume of given credits increased by 24.5% compared to 1st February, 2013, 78.3 % or 12.2 milliard manat of it was long-term. 815.1 million manat or 5.2% of credits payment was expired.
Amount of deposits of population in banks during a year increased by 21.4% and reached to 6.5 milliard manat for the state of 1st February. 60.9% of deposits were with national currency and 39.1% with foreign currency.
In February 1 US dollar was 0.78 manat, 1 Euro – 1.07 manat, 100 Russian roubles – 2.23 manat and in the beginning of the year it was correspondingly equal to 0.78, 1.07, and 2.29 manat.
