Macro-economic indicators of economic and social development of the country in January-April, 2014

Gross Domestic Product. During four months of 2014 in amount of 18.2 milliard manat value added was produced and it was increased by 3.2% compared to corresponding period of 2013. 60.9% of GDP was created in output production, 31.9% in service fields and its 7.2% formed net taxes for product and import.
Output production in non-oil sector increased by 9.0% compared to January-April of last year and it was decreased by 3.2 % in oil-gas sector.
Volume of GDP on average for per capita was 1942.6 manat or 2476.5 US dollars.
Industry. During four months in amount of 11.0 milliard manat or less than 2.0% compared to corresponding period of last year industry products were produced. 72.5% of industry products were produced in mining sector, 20.8% in processing sector, 6.1% in electricity, gas and steam production, supply and distribution sector, 0.6% - in water supply, waste management and processing sector.
Production output was increased by 4.3% in non-oil sector of industry and it was decreased by 2.9% in oil –gas sector.
Production output was decreased by 2.2% compared to January-April of last year in processing sector. During four months 14.1 million tons oil and 6.1 milliard cubic metre marketable gas were produced.
From processing sector production output decreased by 4.1% and production of food products increased by 3.2%, production of textile industry 3.5%, production of clothing 16.6%, production of construction materials 26.3%, production of machine and equipment 11.5%, production of automobile and trailers 2.5 times, production of other transport means 3.8 times, production of furniture 50.5%, installation and maintenance of machine and equipment 21.6%.
Output of industry product increased by 1.4% in the sector of electricity, gas and steam production, supply and distribution, 7.7 milliard kWh or more than 3.2% the level of previous year electricity was produced.
Output production was increased by 10.2 % in water supply, waste management and processing sector.
Agriculture. During April activities in summer fields were continued and till the 1st May in the sowing area with 262.0 thousand hectare have been planted spring crops, as well as, in the sowing area with 20.4 thousand hectare grain and grain legumes, in the sowing area with 20.3 thousand hectare maize for grain, in the sowing area with 57.5 thousand hectare potato, in the sowing area with 52.5 thousand hectare vegetable, in the sowing area with14.8 thousand hectare cotton seed, in the sowing area with 18.1 thousand hectare market garden crops, in the sowing area with 4.6 thousand hectare sugar beet, in the sowing area with 7.2 thousand hectare sunflower for grain and in the area with 756 hectare tobacco have been planted.
Since the beginning of the year from the sector of cattle-breeding meat production in live weight increased by 2.4% and reached to 144.5 thousand tons, milk production increased by 2.1% and reached to 569.8 thousand tons, egg production increased by 12.3% and reached to 496.6 million units and 11.2% more than previous year or 2.7 thousand tons wool was clipped.
From plant-growing products 46.6 tons or more than 12.3 % vegetable, 6.0 thousand tons or more than 15.6% potato was produced.
At the result of efforts of farmworkers production of plant-growing products increased by 9.1% compared to the corresponding period of 2013, production of cattle-breeding 3.0%, total products of agriculture 3.3%.
Construction. During January – April for the implementation of construction works in the country from all financial sources in amount of 4.6 milliard manat or more than 8.6 as in January – April, 2013 funds were directed to the fixed assets. 3.2 milliard manat or 68.9% of used allocation was spent to the construction of facilities on production output. 3.2 milliard manat or 68.8% of allocations directed to the fixed assets was formed internal investments and it was higher than the level of last year by 3.5% and volume of investments used from foreign sources increased by 22.0%. Spent allocation to the fulfilment of construction and installation works increased by 25.6% compared to the corresponding period of last year and it was formed 3.4 milliard manat.
In the current year in amount of 5322.7 million manat allocations was allocated from the state budget by the purpose of carrying out construction works in the construction facilities advisable to continue and 1728.7 million manat of that allocation were used during four months of the year.
During four months with total area of 500.9 thousand square metre dwellings, secondary schools with 1820 places for pupils, pre-school institutions with 430 places and hospital with 200 beds, in Baku city Health Centre, new administrative-academic complex of National Conservatory, National Gymnastics Arena, in Sumgait city Azerbaijan Paper and Cardboard Factory, Oil Factory, Copper Processing Plant, in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Arpachay -2 Hydroelectric Power Station, Water-storage Reservoir and Water Treatment Complex, Youth Centre, in Goy-Gol region Olympic Sport Complex, Youth Centre, in Gabala region first stage of “Tufan” Alpine Skiing Summer and Winter Recreation Complex and others were put into operation.
Since the beginning of the year 67.6 million tons cargo and 564.4 million persons passengers were transported by enterprises engaged in transport complex and natural persons, compared to corresponding period of 2013 cargo transportation correspondingly increased by 1.9% and 6.0 %. Cargo transportation by automobile transport increased by 3.2%, by pipeline 10.7%, conveyance of passengers by automobile transport also increased by 6.3%, by air transport 2.7%, by metropolitan 4.4%.
In amount of 468.9 million manat or more than 12.3% compared to corresponding period of 2013 communication services were rendered to population, offices and organizations by information and communication enterprises. 72.4 % of communication service was directly rendered to population.
Income of population. During four months of 2014 income of population increased by 3.3% and reached to 1290.7 manat and its 70.8% was spent to final consumption, 8.7% - taxes, social insurance and volunteer membership dues, 18.1% – to the increasing of deposits and capitals.
Salary/Wage. During Januar-March average monthly salary/wage of employees increased by 6.6% and formed 434.3 manat. However, Salary/wage of employees engaged in industry, construction, transport, financial intermediation, leasing and other service territories was higher.
Trade and paid service. In amount of 6.6 milliard manat consumer goods were sold to population and in amount of 2.0 milliard manat paid services were rendered to population at the beginning of the year. Retail turnover was increased by 9.1% and volume of paid services – 6.6%.
Foreign trade. According to the data of State Customs Committee during the first quarter of 2014 in amount of 7.1 milliard US dollars commodity turnover was carried out with foreign countries. 6.5 milliard dollars or 91.0% of it was share of far foreign countries, 642.4 million dollars – CIS member countries. Commodity turnover was decreased by 14.9% with comparative prices compared to the first quarter of last year, as well as 13.2% with far foreign countries, 25.6% with CIS member countries.
During this period in amount of 5.4 milliard dollars or less than 13.0% commodity by comparative prices compared to corresponding period of last year was sent from the country. 5.2 milliard dollars (96.7%) of exported products was sent to other countries excluding CIS member countries, 179.4 million dollars to CIS member countries and it was correspondingly decreased by 11.0 % and 46.4 % with comparative prices.
During the quarter in amount of 1.7 milliard dollars as well as 1.3 milliard dollars products were imported to the country from other countries excluding CIS member countries and 463.0 million dollars from CIS member countries. Amount of imported goods from other countries excluding CIS member countries decreased by 22.1% compared to the first quarter of last year and volume of imported goods from CIS member countries also decreased by 17.5%.
At the result of exceeding export over import in amount of 3.7 milliard dollars as well as 3.9 milliard dollars positive balance was created with other countries excluding CIS member countries, in amount of 0.2 million dollars negative balance was created with CIS member countries.
45.9% of foreign trade relations were carried out with EU countries, 9.0% with CIS member countries, 45.1% with other foreign countries.
In accordance with the data of SOCAR and AIOC on export of crude oil and natural gas foreign trade turnover was formed 9.7 milliard dollars (as well as export 8.0 milliard dollars) and it was decreased by 6.7%.
In the first quarter the country was received in amount of 9.0 million dollars humanitarian and technical aid.
Inflation. In April the prices of consumer goods and service tariffs increased by 0.2% compared to March, as well as, prices of food products 0.2%, the prices of non-food products 0.2% and service tariffs 0.1%. Since the beginning of the year prices of consumer goods and service tariffs increased by 1.9%, as well as, the prices of food products 1.9%, prices of non-food products 3.6%, service tariffs 0.3%.
State budget. According to the data of Ministry of Finance during January – March in amount of 4.5 milliard manat fund were received by the state budget and in amount of 4.4 milliard manat was spent from budget. At the result 0.8% of GDP or surplus in amount of 108.2 million manat was created. 2343.0 million manat (53.6%) of the budget expenditure was directed to the development of economy, 518.5 million manat (11.8%) to social defence and social protection, 348.8 million manat (8.8%) to education and health.
Deposits. Amount of deposits of the population in the banks increased by 20.2 % compared to corresponding period of last year and it was reached to 6.7 milliard manat for the state of 1st April. Investment with national currency was 4.1 milliard manat and amount of investments with foreign currency – 2.6 milliard manat.
Credit. In amount of 15.9 milliard manat or more than 28.0 % in the corresponding period last year credits were given to natural and legal entities by finance-credit organizations of the country till the 1st April. 77.8% of credits were long term credits and 5.4 % of credits payment was expired.
Exchange rate. During April 1US dollar was equal to 0.78 manat, 1 Euro – 1.05 manat, 100 Russian roubles – 2.20 manat; from the beginning of the year correspondingly it was 0.78, 1.04 and 2.24 manat.
