Macro-economic indicators of economic and social development of the country during January-July, 2014

Comparison of the results of macro-economic indicators of seven months of 2014 with January-July of previous year shows dynamic development of both economic and social sectors of the country.
Production of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) compared to January-July, 2013 increased by 2.4% and formed 34.0 milliard manat. 45.5% of GDP were created in the fields of industry, 11.4% in construction complex and 9.8% in the fields of trade and paid service, 5.0% in transport, 1.7% in information and communication enterprises, 4.9% in agrarian sector and 14.6% in other sectors. On average production of GDP on per capita was 3621.3 manat (4617.3 USD) and it was increased by 1.1% compared to the corresponding period of last year.
56.8% of value added produced in non-oil sector and it was increased by 6.8% compared to January-July of previous year, and decreased by 3.1% in oil-gas sector. 6.9% growth was observed in non-energy sector of economy.
During seven month of 2014 in amount of 19.8 milliard manat or less than 1.7% compared to the corresponding period of previous year industrial products were produced by industrial enterprises and natural entities engaged in this field. 14.4 milliard manat or 72.5% of the product was produced in mining sector; 24.9 million tons oil and 10.8 milliard cubic metre marketable gas was produced.
In amount of 4.3 milliard manat industrial products were produced in processing sector of industry. Production of food products in this sector increased by 3.1%, production of tobacco products (71.9%), production of clothing (42.9%), production of ready metal products (14.4%), production of construction materials (22.6%), production of electrical equipment (17.1%), production of automobile and trailers (66.2%), production of other transport means (3.4 times), production of furniture (13.4%), production of jewellery, music, sport and medical equipment (62.5%), installation and maintenance of machine and equipment (20.6%). In amount of 2.8 milliard manat or more than 3.3% compared to the corresponding period of last year industrial product was produced in non-oil processing industry.
5.3% or 1051.9 million manat of industrial products were produced in the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam.12.5 milliard kWh produced electricity increased by 3.5% compared to the level of seven months of previous year.
Production output in the sector of water supply, treatment and processing of waste was increased by 2.9%.
Production output in the sector of non-oil sector of industry increased by 4.4%, and it was decreased by 2.7% in oil-gas sector.
Till the 1st of August in agrarian sector 95.2% or 952.2 thousand hectare of sowing area with winter and spring cereals and legumes were reaped and 2176.3thousand tons products were taken from that fields. On average the product obtained on per capita decreased by 3.8 metric centner and formed 22.9 centner. Besides that, 13.7 thousand tons product was taken from maize sowing area with 3.7 thousand hectare.
466.1 thousand tons or more than 23.8 thousand tons potato, 717.8 thousand tons vegetable and 325.1 thousand tons market garden crops, 176.6 thousand tons fruit and berry, 3.2 tons grape, 316.7 tons green tea leaf, 3.6 thousand tons sunflower for seed and 1.2 thousand tons tobacco were gathered from the fields.
In this period 252.4 thousand tons or more than 1.7% compared to January-July, 2013 meat in live weight, 1103.6 thousand tons (more than 3.5%) milk, 889.1 million unit (more than 11.3%) eggs, 15.4 thousand tons (more than 1.6%) wool were produced.
Thus, compared to the last year total products of agriculture were decreased by 4.2%.
In amount of 9075.5 million manat or more than 3.0% compared to the corresponding period of 2013 allocation were used for the implementation of construction works in the country from all financial sources to fixed assets. 6596.7 million manat of allocation directed to fixed assets were used in construction-assembly works and in the comparable period it increased by 13.0%. 67.7% or 6140.7 million manat of fixed assets was spent to the construction of production facilities, 6.4 milliard manat or 70.8% of allocation directed to the fixed assets was formed domestic investments and it was less than 2.4% compared to the level of last year and foreign investment was 18.9% higher.
At the result of construction works carried out in the complex some production and social facilities were given into use. During seven months following production and non-production facilities were put into operation: dwellings with total area 986.5 thousand square metre, secondary schools with 3300 places for pupils, pre-school institutions with 672 places, hospital with 200 beds, in Baku city – “Norm” Sement Plant, new shipyard of the State Border Service's Coast Guard, new administrative-academic complex of National Conservatory, new buildings of Central Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and “Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia” science center, building of National Institute of Sports Medicine, Diagnostics and Rehabilitation, Surakhany solar power plant, Health Centre, National Gymnastics Arena, in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic - Arpachay -2 Hydroelectric Power Station, Water-storage Reservoir and Water Treatment Complex, Youth Centre, in Sumgait city - Azerbaijan Paper and Cardboard Factory, Oil Factory, Copper Processing Plant, in Ganja city Metal Casting and Continuous Rolling, Pressure Processing and Dying Plants, in Agdash region - Food and Fruit Processing Plants, "Aghdash" Electrical substation, in Goy-Gol region - Olympic Sport Complex, Youth Centre, in Gabala region - first stage of “Tufan” Alpine Skiing Summer and Winter Recreation Complex, in Lankaran region – Bread Factory, in Shamakhi region - “Shamakhi Palace Platinum By Rixos” hotel and others.
In the current year from state budget in amount of 5413.6 million manat allocation was considered for the construction activities in the country and 3065.0 million manat of allocation was used.
65.1 thousand new, as well as, 52.8 thousand permanent job place were opened in the first half of 2014 related with the execution of State Program on socio-economic development of regions in 2014-2018. 69.3% of created job places were opened in regions, 83.9% in non-state sectors.
During January – July – 124.9 million tons or more than 2.5 % cargo compared to corresponding period of last year and 1004.9 million person passengers or more than 5.0% were conveyed by natural entities engaged in the field of automobile transport and transport enterprises. 9.8% of cargos were transported by railway, 56.2% by automobile transport, 4.6% by sea transport, 29.4% by pipeline and 87.4% of passengers were conveyed by automobile, 12.3% by metropolitan.
During seven months of 2014 in amount of 862.3 million manat services were rendered to population, enterprises and organizations by information and communication enterprises. Volume of information and communication services compared to January-July, 2013 increased by 12.4%, 72.5% of services were rendered to population and 78.6% received income was share of non-state sector.
According to the data of State Customs Committee during January-June in amount of 15.3 milliard dollars trade operations were implemented with 134 foreign countries. 9.2% or 1411.3 million dollars of trade relations were carried out with CIS member countries, 90.8% or 13.9 milliard dollars with other countries.
During six months in amount of 11.2 milliard dollars product was exported, 424.3 million dollars of it sent to CIS member countries, 96.2% or 10.8 milliard dollars was share of customers of other foreign countries.
During six months export of non-oil products was decreased by 6.6%.
In this period volume of imported products to the country was formed 4124.6 million dollars. Value of imported products from other foreign countries was 3137.6 million dollars and 987.0 million dollars from CIS member countries.
46.5% of foreign trade turnover were carried out with European Union countries, 9.2% with CIS member countries, 44.3% with other foreign countries.
Thus, during six months volume of goods exported from the country was higher for 2.7 times than the value of goods imported to the country and in amount of 7121.7 million dollars positive balance was created.
During January-June the country received in amount of 32.2 million dollars humanitarian and technical aids.
Taking into account the data of reports received from AIOC and State Oil Company commodity turnover with foreign countries was formed 20.6 milliard dollars, as well as, export 16.5 milliard dollars and positive balance was 12.4 milliard dollars.
During January-July, 2014 income of population increased by 4.7% compared to corresponding period of last year and reached to 21.0 milliard manat and income on per capita increased by 3.4% and reached to 2239.1 manat (monthly on average 319.9 manat). 70.3% of income was used to final consumption, 9.1% - to the payment of taxes, social insurance and membership dues, 18.0 % to the growth of deposits and capitals.
During January-June average monthly salary/wage of employees increased by 6.3% compared to the corresponding period of previous year and formed 439.8 manat. Salary/wage of persons engaged in industry, construction, transport and etc. were higher and during January-June average monthly salary/wage of persons engaged in industry was 705.6 manat, salary/wage of persons engaged in construction complex – 622.3 manat, salary/wage of persons engaged in transport sector 539.0 manat, in information and communication sector 726.4 manat. Salary/wage in oil sector was formed 1777.6 manat, in non-oil sector 406.0 manat, in state sector 354.3 manat, in private sector 566.5 manat.
Proper measures are carried out in order to improve the welfare of the citizens of the country and strengthen the social protection of people with low income. Number of pensioners was 1285.0 thousand person for the state of 1st July, 2014 and it was formed 13.6% of country population. Average amount of granted monthly pensions reached to 172.2 manat and it was formed 39.2% of average salary.
For the state of 1st July of the current year 332.2 thousand persons received social allowance, 60.9 thousand person lump sum allowance and 50.2 thousand person scholarships for outstanding services to the Republic of Azerbaijan and 555.2 thousand persons of 126.6 thousand families also received social assistance.
During seven months From consumer market in amount of 11,8 milliard manat consumer goods was purchased by population and paid 3532.4 million manat in exchange for rendered services. Commodity turnover increased by 9.1%, compared to January-July, 2013 as well as, selling of food products 3.5%, selling of non-food products 15.0%, volume of paid services 6.6%. During January-July, 2014 in amount of 1350.0 thousand manat non-food products and 154.6 thousand manat food products was sold to buyers by e-trade turnover.
In July compared with June prices of consumer goods and service tariffs decreased by 0.8%, as well as prices of food products 2.0%, service tariffs increased by 0.2% and prices of non-food products didn’t changed. Compared to the corresponding period of 2013 during January-July of the current year prices of consumer goods and service tariffs was increased by 1.5%, as well as prices of food products 0.9%, non-food products 3.6%, service tariffs 0.4%.
During January-June, 2014 income of state budget decreased by 1.9% compared to the same period of previous year and became 9338.9 million manat, expenses decreased by 0.1% and formed 8723.9 million manat. Surplus of budget was 615 million manat or 2.1% of GDP level. 12.7% of budget income is income tax of legal entities, 16.4% value-added tax 4, 9%, income tax of natural entities, 4.3% excise tax, 3.9% taxes on foreign economic activity, 2.6% other taxes and 55.2 % of it was provided by the account of non-tax revenues.
4087.2 million manat (46.8%) of budgetary funds was spent to the development of economy, 987.4 million manat (11.3%) to social protection and social security of population, 904.0 million manat (10.4%) to education and health care financing. 21.1% (1853.1 million manat ) of expenses was payment of salary, pension and allowances to population.
For the state of 1st July, 2014 volume of used local credits to the country economy was 16.8 milliard manat and it was increased by 21.6% compared to the corresponding period of previous year. 34.5% of credits were implemented by state, 62.7% by private banks, 2.8% non-bank credit organizations. 78.9% of given credits were long-term credits and 5.2% of its payment was expired.
For the state of 1 July, 2014 remainder of deposits of population in banks were 6.7 milliard manat and it increased by 13.5% compared to the same period of last year. 4.2 milliard manat or 62.5% of deposits were with national currency, 2.5 milliard manat – with foreign currency and it was correspondingly increased by 17.1% and 7.9% compared to last year.
During July 1 US dollars was equal to 0.78 manat, 1Euro – 1.06 manat, 100 Russian rouble – 2.26 manat. In January-July correspondingly it was 0.78, 1.07 and 2.25 manat.
From the begging of the year country population size increased by 51.8 thousand person or 0.5% and for the state of 1st July, 2014 it reached to 9528.9 thousand person.
