Results of Expert Group Meeting and Workshop on Population and Housing Censuses organized in Geneva
Representative of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rza Allahverdiyev – Head of Department of Population and Gender Statistics participated in the Expert Group Meeting and Workshop on Population and Housing Censuses organized by UNECE and Eurostat in accordance with the work plan of Conference of European Statisticians on 22-26 September, 2014 in Geneva.
The main purpose of the Meeting was to discuss the draft version of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES) Recommendations for the 2020 Censuses of Population and Housing. The Meeting was organized in the framework of the work plan on censuses for the period 2012-2015 adopted by the CES in June 2012.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Armenia as well as Albania, Georgia, Turkey, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland statistical bodies, experts from CIS Statistical Committee, UNECE and Eurostat participated in the seminar.
The programme of the Meeting was consisting of the following substantive topics, corresponding to different chapters of the draft census recommendations: Methodological approaches to the census; Census technology, outsourcing and innovations; Operational framework and field operations; Defining the population base; Geographic characteristics; Demographic characteristics; Economic characteristics (including agriculture); Educational characteristics; Disability status; Migration characteristics; Ethno-cultural characteristics; Household and family characteristics; Housing characteristics.
Representative of the State Statistical Committee as well as representatives of other countries presented presentation on above mentioned topics.
At the end of the seminar representatives were informed about future works.
