Training Course on Information Economy Statistics held in Almaty, Kazakhstan
Representatives of the State Statistical Committee Farhad Gubatov Deputy Head of Service Statistics Department and Ismayil Suleymanov Head of Transport, Information and Communication Sector participated in the Training Course on Information Economy Statistics organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) with the cooperation of the Subregional Office for North and Central Asia (NCA) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on 8-12 December, 2014 in Almaty, Khazakhistan.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Khazakhistan, Kyrgizistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Armenia participated in the Regional course.
The objective of this training was to strengthen the capacities of the National Statistics Offices of the Russian-speaking countries to produce national statistics on the use of ICT by businesses and on the ICT sector. The ICT statistics allowed Governments to elaborate and evaluate their ICT policies for development and to take measures to bridge the digital divide within and between countries.
Training Course organized on the base of methodology of UNCTAD mainly covered conception on ICT indicators, preparation of strategy of data collection in the field of ICT, designing of ICT observation in enterprises, dissemaination of ICT data and other issues on ICT.
