Workshop organized together with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) held in Rome

Head of Department on Agricultural and Environment Statistics of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Rashad Bayramov participated in the workshop organized together with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) held on 25-26 June, 2015 in Rome.
Experts from Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan as well as experts on agricultural sphere of ECO and FAO and representatives from Agricultural Ministry of Italy and some donor organizations participated in the workshop.
The main objective of the workshop was to highlight the importance of continuing the activities in the region and to discuss possible implementation options of CountrySTAT through mobilizing national potentials and sources with possible contribution of interested donors.
During the workshop different presentations were presented for the participants. Following topics were discussed: Overview of the new CountrySTAT and the linkages with other international systems such as FAOSTAT, the Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS) and UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), etc.; implementation of CountrySTAT for the ECO Countries: next steps; Group session to gather feedback and suggestions on the proposed implementation of CountrySTAT for the ECO Countries; Presentation of project outcomes, overview of the new CountrySTAT and proposed action plan for strengthening agriculture and food security information systems in the ECO Region using CountrySTAT (FAO and ECO); open session to present and discuss development partners’ views, expectations and proposals for collaboration and the implementation of the project in the region; review of the proposed action plan for the implementation of CountrySTAT in the ECO Region; feedback and recommendations and others.
