Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in 2016

In 2016 compared to 2006 or 2015 there were occurred traffic accidents in the country highways less for 9.6% and number of persons suffered in the result of these incidents decreased by 12.6% compared to previous year and made 2762 persons. 759 of suffered persons died and 2003 – injured. 44.0% of accidents happened in the daytime, 36.4% - at night time, 19.6% - during twilight; 28.7% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

87.0% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared to 2015 decreased by 15.3% and made 497 persons, number of injured persons decreased by 11.6% and 1877 persons.

44.0% of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 36.4% - several transport means, 19.6% - one mode of transport and number of accidents compared to 2015 decreased correspondingly by 4.4%, 8.5% and 21.0%.

76.8% of persons died and 70.6% of injured as a result of traffic accidents made men.

37 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 18 persons died, 34 persons injured. 78.4% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.

During the year number of administrative violation of traffic rules compared to 2015 increased by 13.0% and made 2861.9 thousand. 50.5% of violations were detected on exceeding the speed on the road, 11.9% - violation of parking regulations, 5.1% - disobedience the requirements of road signs, 4.6% - crossroads, 4.2% - driving without seat belt and the rest by other reasons. Penalties in amount of 85.4 million manats were applied because of violation of traffic rules.
