On preparation of the scientific staff
One of the major priority directions of the state policy is development of the scientific-technical potential, increase of scientific employees in the society.
Today 2102 scientific leaders deal with the preparation of scientific staff in Azerbaijan, 59 of them are full members of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, 84 correspondent members, 1528 professors, 273 assistants professor.
In the beginning of the current year doctorates operated in the 110 higher education institutions and scientific organizations having great role in increasing the scientific potential of the country and 2723 people studied that 53.1% of them was women. 80.0% of students studied philosophy, 20.0% doctor of Science programs.
38.5% of students studied in the scientific organizations, 61.5% in the doctorates established in the high schools. This indicator was 36.3 and 63.7% relevantly on Doctor of Philosophy program, 47.5 and 52.5% on Doctor of Sciences program.
56.3% of students studying on Doctor of Philosophy program are youth under the age of 30, 34.2% of students studying on Doctor of Sciences program are those under the age of 40.
349 of 2182 people studying on Doctor of Philosophy program study philology, 294 - economy, 245 - technique, 144 - history, 128 - chemistry, 117 – agrarian, 102 – pedagogics, 101 – biology, 108 – political sciences, others – on other fields of science.
118 of doctorates study on philology, 80 – agrarian, 53 – economy, 48 – technique, 29 – biology, 24 – history, 23 – pedagogics, 26 – earth sciences, 140 study on Doctor of Sciences program in other fields.
In comparison with 2015, graduation on Doctor of Philosophy program in 2016 decreased 17% - 543 people, Doctor of Sciences program decreased 9.7% - 79 people. The number of people enrolled on Doctor of Philosophy program decreased 24.7% - 420 people and on Doctor of Sciences program 7.4% - 101 people.
Furthermore, in 2016 704 dissertators were arranged on Doctor of Philosophy program of which 62.1% were women. The number of dissertators on Doctor of Sciences program was 198 of which 86 were women. The major part of dissertators was arranged in the field of medicine, economy, philology, history, technique and earth sciences.
