Implementation of forest restoration activities
Last year the Forestry Development Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources had provided services to the country forest fund lands of 42.9 thsd. ha, as well as forest restoration activities have been implemented in forest fund lands of 10.2 thsd. ha for the purpose of increasing of the level of use of economically fruitful plant types in the planting of field protective forest strips, greenery, prevention of rarefaction and decreasing of forest areas, land erosion control and generally for environmental improvement. In the framework of the implemented forest restoration activities new forest trees have been planted in 4.9 thsd. ha of area, including seeding of fruit, tree and bush types in 53.9 ha of area and supplementary activities for forest natural restoration have been implemented in 6.2 thsd. ha of area.
Overall, in 2017 there have been stocked up 59.8 tons of seeds of fruit, tree and bush types, of which 30.3 tons (50.6%) were per the share of walnuts, 9.8 tons (16.4%) – apricots, 2.8 tons (4.7%) – almonds, 2.1 tons (3.6%) – dates, 1.6 tons (2.7%) – plums, 1.4 tons (2.3%) – peaches, 0.9 tons (1.6%) – plums, 0.8 tons (1.3%) – chestnuts, 0.7 tons (1.2%) – hazelnuts and 9.4 tons (15.6%) – other fruit and tree seeds.
