Apiculture

Based on to the results of statistical survey organized by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the aim to provide production of official statistical materials in the field of apiculture according to the Law on “Apiculture” of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in 2017 there were obtained 3043.1 ton of honey, 90.2 ton of bee wax, 11.2 ton of bee glue, 8.1 ton of bee bread and 281.7 kg. of bee milk from 271.7 thsd. bee families existing in 21165 farms. Average sale price of 1 kg. of honey made 23.7 manats, average sale price of bee wax, bee glue and bee bread was correspondingly 11.5 manats, 116.7 manats and 56.7 manats, average sale price of 1 gr. of bee milk was 4.9 manats.

In 2017 6.5 ton of honey at a cost of 54.8 thsd. USD have been exported to 5 countries of which 93.8 percent is per the share of Japan.

Generally, during 9 years after approval of the Law on “Apiculture” of the Republic of Azerbaijan number of bee families increased by 1.9 times, number of be families per farm engaged in apiculture increased from 11.1 to 12.8 and bee production increased by 2.2 times.

During the survey beekeeping farms have made several proposals for more development of this area like allocation of by the government the preferential credits, establishment of pedigree bee farms, regular organization of honey sale fairs, control of quality of apiculture products packed and offered for sale.
