Adoption of children

According to data of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 877 children were adopted in 2017 which is more for 13.5% compared to 2016. The number of adopted boys increased by 15.9% and reached 466, while the number of girls increased by 10.8% and reached 411 compared to the previous year.

In 2017 compared to the previous year the number of adopted children under 3 years increased by 19.7%, 3-5 years – 7.5%, 6-10 years – 9.9%, 11-17 years – 7.3% and correspondingly 420, 172, 167, 118 children of these age groups were adopted.

During the previous year 28 children were adopted by foreigners and stateless persons and 12 of them were girls.

In 2017 the number of child adoption decisions canceled by the courts of the Republic of Azerbaijan decreased by 7.9% and made 58 compared to the previous year.
