Foreign trade relations
On January 2018, legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 121 countries of the world; goods were exported to 67 countries and imported from 115 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover on January 2018 made 2231.6 million USD, including export value – 1543.0 million USD, import value – 688.6 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 854.4 million USD. In comparison with January 2017 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 33.3%, in real terms it decreased by 1.9%.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 27.0% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 13.1% - Israel, 8.0% - Austria, 7.9% - Czech Republic, 6.7% - USA, 6.5% - Canada, 6.4% - Indonesia, 4.5% - Germany, 3.8% - Georgia, 3.7% - Russia, 3.6% - Greece, 3.4% - Turkey, 1.7 % - Switzerland and the rest 3.7% - other countries.
18.3% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of import transactions with Russia, 12.9% - Turkey, 9.5% - China, 8.1% - Belarus, 7.3% - Germany, 4.1% - Ukraine, 3.9% - USA, 3.3% - Iran, 2.9% - Turkmenistan, 2.6%- Italy, 2.4% - Korea, per 2.3% Switzerland and United Kingdom, 2.2% - Kazakhstan, 17.9% - other countries.
On January 2018 non-oil products in amount of 122.8 million USD have been exported and that is more in actual prices for 36.1% and in real terms for 34.7% relatively to January 2017.
On January 2018 compared to the same period of 2017 export of main types of products like fresh fruits increased by 59.0%, fresh vegetable – 25.9%, tobacco – 8.4%, fruit and vegetable juice – 33.4%, fruit and vegetable cans – 5.3%, natural grape wine and cellar – 2.2 times, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 87.4%, polyethylene – 30.4%, cotton yarn – 52.7%, while export of sugar – 61.5%, vegetable oils – 58.2%, tea – 29.5%, cotton fibre – 3.4%, unprocessed aluminum – 25.1%, ferrous metal pipes– 8.0%, bentonite clay decreased by 30.2%.
On January 2018 compared to January 2017 import of wheat increased by 2.1 times, fresh fruit – 34.8%, vegetable oil – 5.1times, tea – 49.8%, beef – 24.9%, poultry meat and its additional products – 3.3 times, ferrous metal pipes – 2.7 times, steel rolling – 14.2%, motor cars – 2.2 times, mineral fertilizers – 41.4%, rubber tyres – 79.8%, ferrous metal rods – 64.8%, polyethylene – 4.4 times, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 3.0 times, ferrous metal corners – 92.8%, washing machine – 17.3%, cement and cement clinkers – 2.0 times, trucks – 78.0%, domestic refrigerators – 52.9%, buses – 33.3%, while import of raw sugar and sugar – 57.3%, cigarettes – 0.8%, butter, other milk fats and pastas 34.0%, potato – 24.9%, fresh vegetable – 43.5%, furniture – 0.7%, domestic air conditioners decreased by 8.2%.
