Foreign trade relations
On January-March 2018, legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 146 countries of the world; goods were exported to 92 countries and imported from 136 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover on January-March 2018 made 6894.6 million USD, including export value – 4703.5 million USD, import value – 2191.1 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 2512.4 million USD. In comparison with January-March 2017 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 34.9%, in real by 6.3%, including export - by 5.3% and import – 8.7%.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 19.2% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 9.2% - Israel, 7.8% - Turkey, 6.2% - Czech Republic, 6.0% - Indonesia, 5.6% - Germany, 5.1% - Austria, 4.9% - Canada, 4.2% - India, 4.1% - Taiwan (the state of China), per 3.5% - Russia and USA, 2.9% - Georgia, 2.3% - Greece and the rest 15.5% - other countries.
17.3% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of import transactions with Russia, 14.3% - Turkey, 10.0% - China, 8.8% - Germany, 4.8% - USA, 3.9% - Ukraine, 3.8% - Belarus, 3.3% - Italy, 2.8% - Iran, 2.3%- Czech Republic, 2.2% - Kazakhstan, 26.5% - other countries.
On January-March 2018 non-oil products in amount of 356.4 million USD have been exported and that is more in actual prices for 34.8% and in real terms for 29.6% relatively to January-March 2017.
On January- March 2018 compared to the same period of 2017 export of main types of products like fresh fruits increased by 66.5%, fruit and vegetable juice – 31.8%, fruit and vegetable cans – 27.2%, natural grape wine and cellar – 2.1 times, potato – 2.1 times, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 21.2%, polyethylene – 10.3%, ferrous metal pipes– 15.6%, cotton yarn – 19.0%, while export of fresh vegetable – 1.5%, sugar – 47.5%, tobacco – 6.5%, tea – 5.4%, vegetable oils – 20.4%, unprocessed aluminum – 17.2%, cotton fibre – 31.8%, bentonite clay – 18.6%, semifinished ferrous metals decreased by 51.5%.
On January-March 2018 compared to January-March 2017 import of wheat increased by 54.7%, vegetable oil – 37.3%, fresh fruit - 51.5%, tea – 18.0%, beef – 29.8%, ferrous metal pipes – 2.2 times, motor cars – 2.7 times, mineral fertilizers – 2.4 times, furniture – 2.1 times, ferrous metal rods – 63.6%, rubber tyres – 11.0%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 32.1%, polyethylene – 59.4%, washing machine – 66.5%, trucks – 62.1%, cement and cement clinkers – 2.8 times, domestic refrigerators – 3.0 times, while import of cigarettes decreased by 13.8%, butter, other milk fats and pastas 5.4%, potato – 10.3%, raw sugar and sugar – 78.6%, poultry meat and its additional products – 12.3%, fresh vegetable – 49.3%, steel rolling – 2.3%, ferrous metal corners – 6.1%, domestic air conditioners – 26.2%, buses – 24.0%.
