Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in January-June 2018

In January-June 2018, the country's automobile roads suffered a traffic accident of 806, or 5.0% less than the same period of 2017, the number of victims of these events dropped by 6.4% and reached to 1074 persons. 311 of them died and 763 of them were injured. 39.5% of accidents happened in the daytime, 38.7% - at night time, 21.8% - during twilight; 30.1% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

91.2% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents increased by 12.1% and made 250 persons, number of injured persons decreased by 6.5% and 728 persons.

47.5% (7.9% less compared to the same period of last year) of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 33.5% (2.2% less) - several transport means, 19.0% (1.9% less) - one mode of transport.

79.7% of died persons and 75.0% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.

23 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 12 persons died, 19 persons injured. 69.6% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.

In January-June 2018 number of administrative violation of traffic rules compared to same period of time in 2017 increased by 4.1% and made 1619.7 thousand. 50.3% of violations were detected on exceeding the speed on the road (more than 2.5% compared to 2017), 13.9% disobedience the requirements of road signs and traffic movement signs (52.6% more), 12.4% - violation of parking regulations (15.5% more), 10.5% - continue the movement of the traffic light or the regulator’s warning sign (4.5% more), 3.6% not signing compulsory insurance agreement (56.5% more), 3.0% - driving without seat belt (17.7% less) and the rest by other reasons. Penalties in amount of 34.1 million manats were applied because of violation of traffic rules.
