The cooperation issues between the State Statistical Committee with FAO are extended

Thematic seminar dedicated to the issues of development of essential mutual relations for producing data on SDG indicators to which FAO is responsible, provision of international comparability, obtaining of data on methodology and indicators within joint technical cooperation between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UN Food and Agriculture Organization has been held on 4-5 December.

The Seminar has been organized in the framework of the project “Strengthening the capacity of the Government in producing quality data for SDG implementation Monitoring” and attended by responsible employees of the State Statistical Committee and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources represented by administrative data providers, authorized representatives of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, “Azersu” OJSC and Azerbaijan Melioration and Water Industry OJSC.

In the framework of the seminar FAO expert Mr. Riccardo Biancalani organized practical trainings on all methodological aspects of statistical output on the indicators “6.4.1 Change in water-use efficiency over time” and “Level of water stress: freshwater withdrawal as a proportion of available freshwater resources” in relation with achievement of the goals and targets of “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” at the national level.

Technical knowledge got in the two day practical trainings will greatly contribute to statistical capacity building in the field of up-to-date, available, quality and reliable data collection, representative data production and data exchange on the mentioned indicators.
