Hotels and similar establishments

In 2018, 3002.6 thousand nights were spent on hotels, which is 15.9 percent more than 2017. 59.1% of the nights in hotels were registered in Baku, 10.4% in Gabala, 5.4% in Khachmaz, 4.1% in Naftalan, 3.8% in Guba, 3.6% in Gusar, 2.9% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, per 0.9% in Gakh and Ganja, 0.8% in Lankaran and 8.1% in other districts (cities).

The number of nights spent by foreigners and stateless persons amounted to 2049.7 thousand, representing 68.3% of total nights which is 20.3% more than the previous year. 13.8% of the nights were citizens of the United Arab Emirates, 11.3% - Russian citizens, 8.8% - Saudi Arabia, 4.9% - Iranian citizens, 4.3% - Turkish citizens, 4.2% - India, 3.8% - Israel citizens, 3.1% - citizens of Kuwait, 2.7% - citizens of Iraq, per 2.6% - citizens of Great Britain and USA, 2.5% - Pakistan, 2.4% - Qatar citizens, 1.6% - Kazakhstan, 1.3% - Oman citizens, 1.2% - German, 1.1% - Ukrainian citizens, 1.0% - Bahrain, 26.8% - citizens of other countries.

74.2% of the nights in hotels spent by foreigners and stateless persons were registered in Baku city, 10.0% in Gabala, 3.7% in Naftalan city, 3.2% in Gusar, 3.1% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 3.0% in Guba, 2.8% in other districts and cities. The number of nights spent by the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan amounted to 952.9 thousand which is 7.5% more compared to 2017.  

In 2018, hotels' revenues amounted to 359.4 million manat or 26.3% more than previous year, 66.9% of which were services for the provision of rooms, 24.0% of the services on the sale of food products, including beverages, 3.3% for treatment and health services, and 5.8% from other services.

The average level of use of the number of hotels in the country was 21.4% (17.1% less in 2017). This indicator was 54.8% in Naftalan, 37.3% in Gabala, 36.1% in Baku, 34.7% in Kurdamir, 32.7% in Agstapha, 30.4% in Shamkir, 26.3% in Beylagan while in other cities and regions it was below average. The highest average level of use of the number of hotels was in August – 37.5%.
