Chairman of the State Statistical Committee met with the UNFPA Regional Director

On April 2 Mr. Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee met with Mr. Karl Kulessa, UNFPA Representative in Turkey and Country Director for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.

During meeting further cooperation perspectives between the State Statistical Committee and UNFPA and preparatory works for population census to be conducted in the Republic of Azerbaijan on 1-10 October.

Mr. Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee welcomed the quest and outlined sustainable and systematic nature of Azerbaijan development with the leadership of the President Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the continuous development and improvement of national statistical system like all fields of the country economy. Mr. Tahir Budagov informed in details about preparatory works for population census to be conducted on 1-10 October in our country. He noted that experience gained during pilot census conducted in Gabala region on October of the last year would be used for organization of the main census at higher level and at the present the actions envisaged in the Calendar plan are successfully being implemented.

Mr. Karl Kulessa, UNFPA Regional Director expressed his gratitude for kind meeting. He noted active cooperation of UNFPA with several state agencies of Azerbaijan, including the State Statistical Committee. Karl Kulessa highly assessed preparatory works for the next population census to be held in Azerbaijan and emphasized readiness for any assistance.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on priorities of joint cooperation between the State Statistical Committee and UNFPA and other issues of mutual interest.
