According to the State Border Service data, on January-May 2019 Azerbaijan received from 180 countries of the world 1094.8 thousand or 3.7 percent more foreigners and stateless persons compared with the January-May 2018. 28.5 percent of the arrivals were from Russian Federation, 26.0 percent – Georgia, 10.9 percent - Turkey, 7.7 percent - Iran, 3.0 percent the United Arab Emirates, per 1.9 percent – Ukraine and India, per 1.6 percent – Great Britain and Turkmenistan, per 1.2 percent – Pakistan and Iraq, 14.4 percent were citizens of other countries and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 69.1 percent of the arrivals were men and 30.9 percent were women.

There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors in January-May among Turkmenistan (1.9 times), Egypt (1.8 times), China (1.8 times), India (1.7 times), Saudi Arabia (1.7 times), Great Britain (42.3 percent), South Korea (31.4 percent), Japan (30.1 percent), Germany (28.0 percent), Canada (27.7 percent), Poland (23.4 percent) and Georgia (22.7 percent) citizens.

On January-May 2019, the number of arrivals from EU members increased by 27.8 percent and amounted to 54.4 thousand and from the CIS countries it increased by 3.6 percent and amounted to 380.8 thousand persons.

60.4 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 38.8 percent - air and 0.8 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad in January-May 2019 increased by 25.5 percent compared to the correspondent period of the previous year and amounted 2065.9 thousand persons. 39.5 percent of the country citizens traveled to Iran, 27.0 percent - Georgia, 18.3 percent - Russian Federation, 9.8 percent - Turkey, 5.4 percent to other countries. 66.4 percent of the travelers were men and 33.6 percent were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 73.6 percent, Georgia – by 10.6 percent, Russian Federation – by 5.6 percent, Turkey – 0.1 percent.

In January-May 2019, 83.8 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 15.4 percent - air and 0.8% - water transport.
