Foreign trade relations

On January-June 2019 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 177 countries of the world, goods were exported to 103 countries and imported from 164 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country on January-June 2019 made 16866.2 million USD, including export value – 9850.6 million USD, import value – 7015.6 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 2835.0 million USD. In comparison with January-June 2018 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 15.2 percent, including import – 50.5 percent, while export decreased by 1.4 percent. In real terms trade turnover increased by 6.5 percent, including import - by 19.6 percent and export – 0.4 percent.

According to the State Customs Committee data, 28.1 percent of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 12.4 percent - Turkey, 6.9 percent - China, 6.3 percent - India, 5.7 percent - Germany, 5.5 percent – Israel, 4.3 percent – Spain, 3.8 percent – Russia, 3.3 percent - Czech Republic, 3.2 percent – Georgia, 2.6 percent – France, 2.3 percent – the United Kingdom and the rest 15.6 percent - other countries.

14.4 percent of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Switzerland, 14.3 percent - Russia, 9.7 percent - Turkey, 8.4 percent - China, 5.9 percent - USA, 5.6 percent – Canada, 4.7 percent Germany, 4.1 percent – Iran, 3.1 percent - Ukraine, 2.9 percent – Australia, 2.5 percent – Italy, 1.9 percent – France, 1.8 percent - Kazakhstan, 20.7 percent - other countries.

On January-June 2019 non-oil products in amount of 979.1 million US dollars have been exported and that is more in actual prices for 15.7 percent and real terms for 11.1 percent relatively to January-June 2018. The share of goods sent to Russia (36.3%), Turkey (21.8%), Georgia (8.7%), Switzerland (7.5%), Italy (3.1%), Ukraine (2.4%), Greece (1.8%), Iran (1.8%), China (1.7%) and Germany (1.2%) was prevailed in export value on non-oil products.

On January-June 2019 compared to the same period of 2018 export of main types of products like fresh vegetable increased by 3.1 percent, fresh fruit – 31.3 percent, sugar – 22.3 percent, tobacco – 1.9 times, fruit and vegetable juice – 37.9 percent, fruit and vegetable cans – 10.5 percent, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 34.5 percent, cotton fibre – 2.9 times, polyethylene – 1.1 percent, cotton yarn – 50.3 percent, semi-finished ferrous metals – 2.3 times, bentonite clay – 11.1 percent, while export of potato decreased by 7.4 percent, tea – 1.6 percent, vegetable oils – 35.2 percent, natural grape wine and cellar – 27.3 percent, unprocessed aluminum – 12.4 percent, ferrous metal pipes – 80.8 percent.

On January-June 2019 compared to January-June 2018 import of wheat increased by 7.0%, fresh fruit – 2.4 percent, raw sugar and sugar – 2.5 times, vegetable oils – 0.9 percent, tea – 1.7%, potato – 13.6%, poultry meat and its additional products – 14.0%, beef – 8.8%, fresh vegetable – 39.2%, motor cars – 2.0 times, steel rolling – 3.6 percent, mineral fertilizers – 10.5 percent, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 23.6%, domestic air conditioners – 1.9 times, furniture – 11.9%, rubber tyres – 5.8%, polyethylene – 15.1%, trucks – 1.6 times, washing machines – 1.2%, ferrous metal corners – 24.8%, busses – 1.7 times while import of cigarette decreased by 41.6%, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 2.4%, ferrous metal pipes – 2.3%, ferrous metal rods – 5.3%, cement and cement clinker – 32.7%, domestic refrigerator – 9.9%.
