Activities of hotels and similar establishments
In 2019, 3345.3 thousand nights were spent on hotels of the country, which is 11.4 percent compared to 2018. 57.7% of the nights in hotels were registered in Baku, 7.9% in Gabala, 7.9% in Guba, 4.4% in Khachmaz, 3.7% in Naftalan, 2.8% in Gusar, 2.7% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 1.2% in Lankaran, per 1.0% in Mingachevir and Gakh, 8.6% in other districts (cities).
The number of nights spent by foreigners and stateless persons increased by 9.3% compared to previous year and amounted to 2240.9 thousand which makes 67.0% of total nights. 13.8% of the nights were citizens of the Saudi Arabia, 11.7% - United Arab Emirates, 10.9% - Russian Federation, 6.0% - Israel citizens, 5.9% - India, 5.2% - Iranian citizens, 5.0% - Turkish citizens, 3.5% - citizens of Kuwait, 3.5% - Great Britain, per 2.1% - Qatar and Pakistan citizens, 2.0% - USA, per 1.5% - China and Kazakhstan, 1.4% - Iraq, per 1.1% - Germany and Georgia, 22.1% - citizens of other countries.
77.0% of the nights in hotels spent by foreigners and stateless persons were registered in Baku city, 9.1% in Gabala, 3.4% in Guba, 3.0% - in Naftalan, 2.9% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 4.6% in other districts and cities. The number of nights spent by the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan increased by 15.9% compared to 2018 and amounted to 1104.4 thousand.
During the current year, hotels' revenues amounted to 450.2 million manats or 25.2% more compared to previous year, 66.0% of which were services for the provision of rooms, 25.8% for public catering services, 2.2% for treatment and health services and 6.0% from other services.
In 2019, the average indicator of the level of use of hotels’ one-time capacity in the country was 22.1% (20.8% in 2018). This indicator was 55.0% in Naftalan, 44.5% in Guba, 36.6% in Gabala, 32.2% in Beylagan, 31.8% in Baku, 24.2% in Shabran, while in other cities and regions it was below average country indicator. The highest average indicator (46.4%) of the level of use of hotels’ one-time capacity was in August.
