From the beginning of the year number of population of the country increased by 28786 persons or 0,3% and became to 10095894 persons for the state of the 1st July 2020. 52,8 percent of the population is urban, 47,2 percent is rural residents, 49,9 percent is male and 50,1 percent is female. At present, there are 1002 women per 1000 men. The population per square kilometer is 117 persons.

On January-June of current year 59356 newborns by country were registered by the region (city) Registration Departments of Ministry of Justice and per 1,000 person of population, this indicator was 12,0 percent. 53,3 percent of newborns were boys, 46,7 percent were girls. 1608 of infants were twins, 57 triplets.

31016 deaths were registered in the country on January-June 2020 and the number of deaths was 6,3 percent per 1000 person.

In the six months of the current year 17841 marriages and 7107 divorces were registered and the number of marriages was 3,6 and divorces was 1,4 per 1000 person.

On January-June of current year the relevant authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service registered 820 person arrivals to Azerbaijan for permanent residence and 374 person departures from the country and migration positive balance made up 446 person.
