Foreign trade relations
On January-July 2020 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 172 countries of the world, goods were exported to 102 countries and imported from 160 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country on January-July 2020 made 13777,6 million USD. 7876,8 million USD or 57,2% of trade turnover made the export value, 5900,8 (42,8%) million USD – import value and consequently positive trade balance reached to 1976,0 million USD. In comparison with January-July 2019 foreign trade turnover decreased in actual price by 30,9%, in real terms by 22,5%, including import – 43,4%, export - 7,1%.
On January-July 2020 the export of non-oil gas products, compared to corresponding period of previous year, decreased in actual price by 8,6%, while in real terms it decreased by 17,1% and made 1035,1 million USD.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 32,1% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 18,7% - Turkey, 4,7% – Russia, 4,1% – China, 4,0% – India, 3,9% - Israel, 3,7% - Croatia, 3,4% - Greece, 3,1% – Georgia, 3,0% – Ukraine, 2,5% - Spain, 2,1% - Czech Republic, 1,9% – Tunisia, 1,5% - Vietnam, and the rest 11,3% - other countries.
The share of goods sent to Russia (40,4%), Turkey (19,8%), Switzerland (10,4%), Georgia (8,1%), China (3,1%), Ukraine (2,4%), Italy (2,0%), Kazakhstan (1,6%), Iran (1,2%), Turkmenistan (1,0%), Belarus (0,9%), USA (0,9%) was prevailed in export value on non-oil gas products.
18,4% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 14,7% – Turkey, 13,2% - China, 7,9% - USA, 5,1% – Germany, per 4,2% – Italy and Ukraine, 3,0% – UK, 2,7% – Iran, 1,9% – Japan, per 1,8% – Korea and France and 21,1% - other countries.
On January-July 2020 compared to January-July 2019 export of main types of products like fresh vegetable increased by 6,0%, potato – 32,1%, fruit and vegetable juice – 9,9%, vegetable oils – 1,7 times, fruit and vegetable cans – 5,1%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 41,9%, polyethylene – 41,9%, ferrous metal pipes – 1,8 times, bentonite clay – 11,0%, while export of fresh fruit decreased by 18,5%, sugar – 40,0%, tobacco – 25,8%, tea – 1,9%, natural grape wine and cellar – 57,4%, cotton fiber – 10,0%, cotton yarn – 28,2%, unprocessed aluminum – 12,6%, semi-finished ferrous metals - 85,4%.
On January-July 2020 compared to January-July 2019 import of fresh fruit increased by 14,5%, vegetable oils – 3,9%, raw sugar and sugar – 4,0%, butter other milk fats and pastas – 37,7%, tea – 13,9%, beef – 18,8%, fresh vegetable – 27,5%, motor cars – 25,0%, medical products – 1,7 times, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 22,8%, ferrous metal rods – 1,7 times, domestic refrigerators – 11,0%, while import of wheat decreased by 33,5%, potato – 0,8%, poultry meat and its additional products – 4,7%, cigarettes – 79,4%, ferrous metal pipes – 7,3%, steel rolling – 3,4%, mineral fertilizers – 4,3%, rubber tires – 20,5%, air conditioners – 30,6%, furniture – 20,5%, domestic trucks – 16,9%, polyethylene – 19,6%, washing machines – 9,0%, ferrous metal corners – 13,0%, busses - 27,3%, cement and cement clinker – 24,9%.
