Foreign trade relations
In January-June 2021 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 171 countries of the world, goods were exported to 100 countries and imported from 161 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country in January-June 2021 made 14650,3 million USD. 9259,1 million USD or 63,2% of trade turnover made the export value, 5391,2 (36,8%) million USD – import value and consequently positive trade balance reached to 3867,9 million USD. In comparison with January-June 2020 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 24,7%, while decreased in real terms by 7,7%, including import – 11,1%, export - 5,2%.
In January-June 2021 the export of non-oil gas products, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, increased in actual price by 27,4%, in real terms by 14,0% and made 1162,4 million USD.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 35,9% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 15,7% - Turkey, 4,7% – Russia, 4,4% – Georgia, 4,0% - India, 3,9% - Spain, 3,7% - Israel, 2,9% - Portugal, 2,6% - Croatia, per 2,3% - Ukraine and Tunis, per 1,6% - Canada, UK and Germany, 1,5% - Thailand, per 1,4% - Belarus and China, and the rest 8,5% - other countries.
The share of goods sent to Russia (34,7%), Turkey (26,6%), Switzerland (10,1%), Georgia (6,9%), USA (2,6%), China (1,8%), Ukraine (1,8%), Turkmenistan (1,5%), Kazakhstan (1,3%), Uzbekistan (1,0%), was prevailed in export value on non-oil gas products.
17,1% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 15,2% – Turkey, 12,9% - China, 6,3% – Germany, 4,3% - USA, 4,1% – Ukraine, 4,0% – Italy, 3,4% – Iran, 2,5% - UK, 2,1% – Japan, 2,0% – Korea, 1,7% - France, 1,6% - Brazil, 1,5% – India, per 1,1% - Belarus, Poland and Vietnam and 18,0% - other countries.
In January-June 2021 compared to the corresponding period of previous year export of main types of products like fresh fruit increased by 38,8%, potato – 12,9%, sugar – 2,0 times, vegetable oils – 27,8%, fruit and vegetable juice – 15,5%, fruit and vegetable cans – 19,7%, natural grape wine and cellar – 10,7%, cotton fiber – 1,9 times, cotton yarn – 1,8 times, ferrous metal pipes – 12,0%, while export of fresh vegetable decreased by 23,6%, tea – 21,3%, tobacco – 45,9%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 30,7%, polyethylene – 11,5%, unprocessed aluminum – 41,8%, bentonite clay – 4,2%.
In January-June 2021 compared to January-June 2020 import of wheat increased by 12,0%, vegetable oils - 2,3 times, raw sugar and sugar 15,6%, tea – 11,2%, potato – 14,5%, fresh vegetable – 44,5%, cigarettes – 0,5%, motor cars – 1,7 times, medical products – 1,0%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 11,9%, rubber tires – 1,6 times, domestic trucks – 2,1 times, furniture – 33,6%, washing machines – 28,5%, domestic refrigerators – 9,4%, while import of decreased by 1,6% fresh fruit, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 6,9%, poultry meat and its additional products – 28,40%, beef – 41,9%, steel rolling – 43,6%, ferrous metal pipes – 35,8%, mineral fertilizers – 44,0%, air conditioners – 4,1%, ferrous metal rods – 70,4%, polyethylene – 44,2%, ferrous metal corners – 26,4%, busses - 21,1%, cement and cement clinker – 35,4%.
