Foreign trade relations
In January-August 2021 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 180 countries of the world, goods were exported to 111 countries and imported from 167 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country in January-August 2021 made 20100,1 million USD. 12750,6 million USD or 63,4% of trade turnover made the export value, 7349,5 (36,6%) million USD – import value and consequently positive trade balance reached to 5401,1 million USD. In comparison with January-August 2020 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 28,3%, while decreased in real terms by 4,1%, including import – 9,8% while export increased by 0,1%.
In January-August 2021 the export of non-oil gas products, compared to the corresponding period of previous year, increased in actual price by 37,4%, in real terms by 24,3% and made 1584,5 million USD.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 37,8% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 13,6% - Turkey, per 4,2% - Croatia and Russia, 4,0% - Spain, 3,8% - India, per 3,6% – Georgia and Israel, 2,7% - Tunis, per 2,4% - Ukraine and Portugal, 2,2% - UK, 1,7% - Germany, 1,6% - Switzerland, 1,1% - Canada, per 1,0% - Thailand, Greece, China and Belarus and the rest 7,1% - other countries.
The share of goods sent to Russia (33,0%), Turkey (25,7%), Switzerland (9,8%), Georgia (6,9%), USA (3,0%), Ukraine (1,9%), China (1,6%), Kazakhstan (1,4%), Turkmenistan (1,4%), Belgium (1,3%), Brazil (1,1%), UK (1,1%), was prevailed in export value on non-oil gas products.
16,8% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 15,4% – Turkey, 13,7% - China, 5,9% – Germany, 4,1% - USA, per 4,0% – Italy and Ukraine, 3,2% – Iran, 2,7% - UK, 2,3% – Japan, 1,9% – Korea, 1,8% - France, 1,6% - Brazil, 1,4% – India, 1,1% - Belarus, per 1,0% - Vietnam and Poland, and 18,1% - other countries.
In January-August 2021 compared to the corresponding period of previous year export of main types of products like fresh fruit increased by 36,9%, potato – 12,9%, sugar – 1,8 times, fruit and vegetable juice – 17,2%, fruit and vegetable cans – 18,3%, cotton fiber – 1,6 times, polyethylene – 1,0%, cotton yarn – 2,2 times, semi-finished ferrous metals – 9,1 times, ferrous metal pipes – 7,6% while export of fresh vegetable decreased by 20,7%, vegetable oils – 5,8%, tea – 19,0%, tobacco – 34,1%, natural grape wine and cellar – 2,9%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 29,7%, unprocessed aluminum – 40,7%, bentonite clay – 6,3%.
In January-August 2021 compared to January-August 2020 import of raw sugar and sugar increased by 5,7%, tea – 6,0%, potato – 13,5%, fresh vegetable – 41,3%, motor cars – 1,7 times, medical products – 0,8%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 19,7%, domestic trucks – 1,9 times, rubber tires – 40,4%, furniture – 35,8%, air conditioners – 1,3%, washing machines – 39,1%, busses - 13,9%, domestic refrigerators – 27,4%, while import of wheat decreased by 30,3%, vegetable oils – 3,3%, fresh fruit - 2,1%, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 15,0%, poultry meat and its additional products – 14,1%, beef – 43,4%, cigarettes – 17,5%, ferrous metal pipes – 31,1%, steel rolling – 39,7%, mineral fertilizers – 54,3%, ferrous metal rods – 70,5%, polyethylene – 33,5%, ferrous metal corners – 30,5%, cement and cement clinker – 18,9%.
