Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in January-September 2021
In January-September 2021, 1171 or 2.3% more traffic accidents occurred in comparison with the corresponding period of 2020, the number of victims of these events increased by 1.3% to 1547 persons. 504 of suffered persons died and 1043 of them were injured. 41.7% of accidents happened in the daytime, 40.0% - at night time, 18.3% - during twilight, 28,8% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.
88,0% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared with the corresponding period of the last year decreased by 2.0% and made 385 persons, number of injured persons increased by 2.1% and made 971 persons.

41.3% of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 36,0% - several transport means, 22.7% - one mode of transport.
79.8% of persons died and 71.8% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.
15 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 6 persons died, 16 persons injured. 73.3% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.
