Foreign trade relations
In January-April 2021 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 164 countries of the world, goods were exported to 96 countries and imported from 152 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country in January-April 2021 made 9532,1 million USD. 6003,2 million USD or 63,0% of trade turnover made the export value, 3528,9 (37,0%) million USD – import value and consequently positive trade balance reached to 2474,3 million USD. In comparison with January-April 2020 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 16,5%, while decreased in real terms by 12,4%, including import – 18,1%, export - 8,3%.
In January-April 2021 the export of non-oil gas products, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, increased in actual price by 27,0%, in real terms by 10,7% and made 697,0 million USD.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 37,5% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 16,6% - Turkey, 5,5% - India, 5,3% - Spain, 4,9% - Georgia, 3,1% – Russia, 3,0% - Portugal, per 2,8% - Ukraine and Croatia, 2,7% - Israel, 2,5% - Tunis, per 1,9% - Belarus and China, 1,4% - UK, 1,1% - Switzerland and the rest 7,0% - other countries.
The share of goods sent to Turkey (31,0%), Russia (27,0%), Switzerland (9,8%), Georgia (7,7%), USA (3,3%), China (2,2%), Turkmenistan (1,8%), Ukraine (1,6%), Belgium (1,3%), Kazakhstan (1,2%), Germany (1,1%), Iran (1,0%), Italy (1,0%) was prevailed in export value on non-oil gas products.
18,2% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 15,2% – Turkey, 12,3% - China, 6,9% – Germany, 4,3% - USA, 4,0% – Ukraine, 3,6% – Iran, 3,5% - Italy, 2,7% - UK, per 2,0% – Korea and Japan, 1,7% - France, 1,6% - Brazil, 1,5% – India, per 1,2% - Belarus and Poland and 18,1% - other countries.
In January-April 2021 compared to the corresponding period of previous year export of main types of products like fresh fruit increased by 50,2%, sugar – 2,4 times, vegetable oils – 35,3%, fruit and vegetable juice – 28,2%, fruit and vegetable cans – 18,4%, natural grape wine and cellar – 1,8 times, cotton fiber – 2,1 times, cotton yarn – 47,1%, bentonite clay – 4,2%, while export of fresh vegetable decreased by 35,1%, tea – 21,1%, potato – 34,2%, tobacco – 59,9%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 22,5%, polyethylene – 0,5%, unprocessed aluminum – 15,3%, ferrous metal pipes – 1,3%.
In January-April 2021 compared to January-April 2020 import of wheat increased by 30,6%, raw sugar and sugar 2,2 times, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 4,6%, potato – 3,8%, fresh vegetable – 1,7 times, cigarettes – 1,9%, motor cars – 37,0%, medical products – 9,3%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 10,8%, rubber tires – 50,3%, domestic trucks – 1,7 times, furniture – 8,4%, washing machines – 30,0%, air conditioners – 2,2 times, domestic refrigerators – 51,0%, while import of vegetable oils decreased by 11,5%, fresh fruit 0,9%, tea – 2,7%, poultry meat and its additional products – 27,2%, beef – 33,6%, ferrous metal pipes – 37,3%, steel rolling – 56,2%, mineral fertilizers – 28,8%, ferrous metal rods – 64,1%, polyethylene – 45,5%, ferrous metal corners – 27,6%, busses - 36,2%, cement and cement clinker – 47,5%.
