Foreign trade relations
In January-November 2021 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 186 countries of the world, goods were exported to 117 countries and imported from 173 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country in January-November 2021 made 30746,3 million USD. 20336,4 million USD or 66,1% of trade turnover made the export value, 10409,9 (33,9%) million USD – import value and consequently positive trade balance reached to 9926,5 million USD. In comparison with January-November 2020 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 40,7%, in real terms by 0,8%, including export – 10,4% while import decreased by 11,2%.
In January-November 2021 the export of non-oil gas products, compared to the corresponding period of previous year, increased in actual price by 44,1%, in real terms by 33,8% and made 2359,8 million USD.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 41,2% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 12,8% - Turkey, 4,1% - Russia, 4,0% - Israel, 3,8% - Croatia, per 3,0% – India, Georgia and Portugal, 2,8% - Spain, per 2,4% - Germany and Tunis, 2,3% - Ukraine, 1,7% - UK, 1,6% - Greece, 1,5% - Belarus, 1,3% - Switzerland, per 1,1% - Canada and Czech Republic, and the rest 6,9% - other countries.
The share of goods sent to Russia (32,4%), Turkey (24,8%), Switzerland (8,7%), Georgia (6,1%), Brazil (3,0%), USA (2,8%), Ukraine (2,1%), Italy (1,6%), Kazakhstan (1,5%), Iran (1,3%), China (1,2%), Belgium (1,1%), Turkmenistan (1,1%), the Netherlands (1,0%), Uzbekistan (1,0%) was prevailed in export value on non-oil gas products.
17,8% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 15,9% – Turkey, 14,0% - China, 5,5% – Germany, 4,0% – Ukraine, 3,8% - USA, 3,6% – Italy, 3,4% – Iran, 2,4% - UK, 2,3% – Japan, 1,9% – Korea, per 1,6% - Brazil and France, 1,3% – India, 1,1% - Belarus, 1,0% - Vietnam, and 18,8% - other countries.
In January-November 2021 compared to the corresponding period of previous year export of main types of products like fresh fruit increased by 17,6%, potato – 12,9%, sugar – 7,1%, fruit and vegetable juice – 4,4%, fruit and vegetable cans – 20,2%, natural grape wines and grape juice – 8.6%, cotton fiber – 38,5%, polyethylene – 29,8%, cotton yarn – 2,3 times, semi-finished ferrous metals – 4,3 times, ferrous metal pipes – 16,6%, bentonite clay – 3,5%, while export of fresh vegetable decreased by 23,9%, vegetable oils – 16,1%, tobacco – 3,2%, tea – 18,2%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 17,7%, unprocessed aluminum – 18,2%.
In January-November 2021 compared to January-November 2020 import of raw sugar increased by 1,7 times, fresh fruit – 3,0%, tea – 3,3%, potato – 19,9%, poultry meat and its additional products – 3,2%, fresh vegetable – 46,8%, cars – 1,7 times, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 6.0%, trucks – 1,6 times, rubber tires – 31,2%, furniture – 29,1%, washing machines – 20,0%, household air conditioners – 2,2%, domestic refrigerators – 1,6 times, while import of wheat decreased by 17,0%, vegetable oils – 10,7%, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 9,5%, beef – 43,9%, cigarettes – 36,9%, medical products – 4,0%, steel rolling – 33,6%, ferrous metal pipes – 20,3%, ferrous metal rods – 63,6%, mineral fertilizers – 62.5%, polyethylene – 23,7%, busses – 4,5%, ferrous metal corners – 25,4%, cement and cement clinker – 22,5%.
