Demographic situation in Azerbaijan

From the beginning of the year number of population of the country increased by 8098 persons or 0.07 % and reached to 10164464 persons for the state of the 1st March 2022. The population per square kilometer is 117 persons.

52.9 % of the population is urban, 47.1 % is rural residents, 49.9 % is male and 50.1 % is female. At present, there are 1001 women per 1000 men.

On first two months of current year 20462 newborns by country were registered by the region (city) Registration Departments of the Ministry of Justice and this indicator made 12.6%. per 1.000 population, 53.3% of newborns were boys, 46.7% were girls. 616 of newborns were twins and 33 of them were triplets.

12557 deaths were registered in the country on the January-February of 2022 and the rate of deaths per 1000 population decreased from 8.2 to 7.7 in comparison with first two months of the last year.

In the January-February of the current year 9606 marriages and 2505 divorces were registered by the region (city) Registration Departments of the Ministry of Justice and the number of marriages increased from 3.5% to 5.9 % and the rate of divorces remains unchanged per 1000 population compared to the corresponding period of 2021.
