50,2 percent of total number of population made up women to the beginning of 2023 and 47,1 percent of 122,8 thousand infants born last year made up girls.

81,9 percent of teachers in general educational institutions, 81,3 percent in secondary specialized educational institutions, 57,4 percent in higher educational institutions and 2/3 of doctors are women. 46,6 percent of school children in general educational institutions, 61,9 percent in secondary specialized educational institutions, and half of students studying in higher educational institutions are girls.

There is also an important role of women in the development of science. 59,2 percent of scientists made up women. Over the last 10 years number of women with the degree of doctor of science increased by 2,2 times and with the degree of doctor of philosophy by 2,1 times. 7 of active members of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and 9 of correspondent members are women.

Azerbaijani women actively take part in socio-economic life of the country and according to preliminary data share of women in total number of employed population is 48,3 percent. Share of women among the employees of Civil Service is 28,0 percent and among the entrepreneurs 22,0 percent.

Number of female members in Milli Majlis is also increasing. If in 1990 women made up 4,3 percent of all deputies, and it was 10,7 percent in 2000, today share of female deputies reached to 18,6 percent .

One of the most interesting facts is the increasing of number of women with driving license year by year. However proportion of women with driving license in total number was 4,6 percent in 2008, it increased by 11,8 percent in 2022.

Thus, Azerbaijani women actively participate both in socio-economic and socio-political life of the country.
