Apiculture

Based on the results of statistical survey organized by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in 2022 there were obtained 7445.9 ton of honey, 174.1 ton of bee wax, 19.1 ton of bee glue, 23.4 ton of bee bread and 379.1 kg of bee milk from 656.1 thsd bee families existing in 32933 farms. Average sale price of 1 kg of honey made 26.7 manats, bee wax - 14.7 manats, bee glue - 91.0 manats, bee bread - 131.7 manats, average sale price of 1 gr of bee milk was 5.6 manats.

In accordance to the “Rules for subsidizing the production of agricultural products” approved by decree No. 759 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 27 June 2019, the subsidy in amount of 10 manats has been identified per bee family (beehive) to the farmers engaged in apiculture and that stimulated the development of apiculture, gave an advantage in supporting small entrepreneurship and providing employment in rural areas and expanded the possibilities of using the potential in this field. Thus, in comparison with 2018 the number of bee families in 2022 increased by 1.3 times while production of honey increased by 1.5 times. Generally, during 14 years after approval of the Law on “Apiculture” of the Republic of Azerbaijan the production of honey increased by 5.3 times, number of bee families by 4.6 times and number of bee families per farm engaged in apiculture increased from 11.1 to 19.9.
