Activities of hotels and similar establishments in January – March 2023

The number of nights spent in hotels and similar establishments in 2023 increased by 26,2 percent compared with 2021 and amounted to 549,2 thousand. 55,3% of the nights in hotels were registered in Baku, 9,6% in Gusar, 5,0% in Guba, 4,6% in Gabala, 3,7% in Naftalan, 3,4% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 3,1% in Shabran, 2,9% in Lankaran, 1,2% in Mingachevir, 1,1% in Ismayilli, 1,1% in Ganja, 0,9% in Shusha, 0,9% in Shamakhi, 0,7% in Shaki, 0,6% in Gakh, and 5,6% in other districts (cities).

The number of nights spent by foreigners and stateless persons increased by 79,7 percent compared to January-March 2022 and reached 309.2 thousand, representing 56,3% of total nights. 19.3% of the nights were spent by citizens of the Russian Federation, 9.5% - Turkey, 8.6% - the United Arab Emirates, 7.3% - India, 5.7% - Saudi Arabia, 4.6% - Kuwait, 3.5% - Great Britain, 2.9% - Kazakhstan, 2.8% - Georgia, 2.6% - Pakistan, 2.3% - the USA, 2.2% - Israel, 1.6% - Belarus, 1.4% - Germany, 1.4% - Uzbekistan, 1, 2% - Qatar, 1.2% - Iran, 0.9% - Ukraine, 0.9% - China, 0.9% - Italy, 0.7% - France, 0.6% - Oman, 0.5% - Netherlands, 17.4% - citizens of other countries.

80,1% of the nights in hotels spent by foreigners and stateless persons were registered in Baku city, 8,9% in Gusar, 3,5% in Naftalan, 3,2% in Gabala, 1,8% in Guba, 0,4% in the Nakchivan Autonomous Republic, 0,3% in Shabran, 1,9% in other districts and cities.

The number of nights spent in hotels by the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan was 240,0 thousand, representing 43,7% of total nights.

In January-March 2023, hotels' revenues increased by 42,8% compared to the corresponding period of 2022 and amounted to 85,2 million manats, 55,5% of which were services for the provision of rooms, 28,9% for catering services, 6,0% for treatment and health services, and 9,6% for other services.

In January-March 2023, one-time use of the number of hotels was 13,4% (10,9% in January-March 2022). This indicator was 37,0% in Naftalan, 30,3% in Gusar, 29,0% in Shabran, 25,7% in Beylagan, 22,8% in Barda, 20,2% in Shusha, 19,9% in Baku, 19,6% in Guba, 18,6% in Sabirabad, 16,7% in Nakchivan Autonomous Republic, 15,3% in Aghjabadi, 14,8% in Lankaran, while in other cities and regions, it was below average.
