According to the State Border Service data, in January-May 2023 the Republic of Azerbaijan received 713,0 thousand or 1,5 times more foreigners and stateless persons from 176 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 32,4% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 20,0%– Türkiye, 8,1% – Iran, 5,2% – Georgia, 4,9% – India, 2,3% – Pakistan, 2,2% - Kazakhstan, 2,1% – United Arab Emirates, 2,0% – Saudi Arabia, 1,9% - Uzbekistan, 1,6% – Belarus, 1,5% – Ukraine, 1,3% – Great Britain, 1,3% – Turkmenistan, 1,2% – Kuwait, 12,0% – were citizens of other countries. 74,1% of the arrivals were men and 25,9% were women.

In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the number of arrivals from China increased by 6,1 times, Turkmenistan – 3,9 times, India – 3,2 times, Belarus – 2,7 times, Uzbekistan – 2,6 times, Kazakhstan – 2,0 times, Russian Federation – 2,0 times, Great Britain – 1,8 times, Israel – 1,7 times, USA – 1,6 times, Kuwait – 43,8%, Pakistan - 43,0%, Georgia – 41,7%, Türkiye – 22,5%, Oman – 17,4%, United Arab Emirates – 14,7%.

Compared to January-May 2022, the number of arrivals from the CIS countries increased by 2,0 times and amounted to 296,6 thousand persons, from EU member countries increased by 1,7 times and amounted to 38,0 thousand persons, from Gulf countries it decreased by 4,5% and amounted to 103,1 thousand persons.

31,9% of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country used railway and car, 66,6% - air, and 1.5% - sea transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 19,5% compared to January-May 2022 and amounted to 633,6 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Russian Federation increased by 1,9 times, Georgia - 36,5%, while the number of citizens traveling to Iran decreased by 29,1%, rkiye – 0,4%. 39,0% of the country citizens traveled to Türkiye, 24,3% – Russian Federation, 9,4% – Georgia, 7,9% - Iran and 19,4% to other countries. 69,5% of the travelers were men and 30,5% were women.

In January-May 2023, 30,0% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who visited foreign countries used railway and car, 67,2% air and 2,8% sea transport.
