Activities of hotels and similar establishments in January – September 2023

The number of nights spent in hotels and similar establishments in 2023 increased by 27,6% compared with the same period of 2022 and amounted to 2 610,9 thousand. 56,1% of the total nights spent were registered in Baku, 6,1% in Khachmaz, 5,2% in Guba, 4,2% in Gabala, 4,0% in Gusar, 3,8% in Naftalan, 3,7% in Shabran, 3,3% in Lankaran, 1,6% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 1,4% in Gakh, 1,1% in Shamakhi, 1,0% in Ismayilli, 1,0% in Ganja, 0,9% in Masalli, 0,9% in Shaki, 0,5% in Mingachevir, 0,5% in Shusha and 4,7% in other districts and cities.

The number of nights spent by foreigners and stateless persons increased by 35,3 percent compared to January-September 2022 and reached 1 395,2 thousand, representing 53,4% of total nights. 16.0% of the total nights were spent by citizens of the Russian Federation, 10,6% - Saudi Arabia, 8,5% - India, 7,3% - Türkiye, 6,5% - the United Arab Emirates, 4,5% - Israel, 4,1% - Kuwait, 3,1% - Great Britain, 2,9% - the USA, 2,9% - Kazakhstan, 2,2% - Uzbekistan, 1,9% - Pakistan, 1,8% - China, 1,8% - Georgia, 1,5% - Germany, 1,1% - Italy, 1,0% - Qatar, 0,8% - Ukraine, 0,8% - Belarus, 0,7% - France, 0,6% - Iran, 0,6% - Oman, 0,6% - Bahrain, 0,5% - Poland, 0,5% - Netherlands, 17,2% - citizens of other countries.

81,8% of the nights in hotels spent by foreigners and stateless persons were registered in Baku city, 4,4% in Gabala, 3,8% in Guba, 3,5% in Gusar, 3,5% in Naftalan, 0,5% in Shabran and 2,5%% in other districts and cities.

The number of nights spent in hotels by the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan compared to corresponding period of 2022 increased by 19,8% and made 1 215,7 thousand, representing 46,6% of total nights.

In January-September 2023, hotels and similar establishments’ revenues increased by 37,4% compared to the corresponding period of 2022 and amounted to 369,8 million manats, 60,6% of which were from services for the provision of rooms, 27,3% catering services, 3,7% treatment and health services and 8,4% other services.

In January-September 2023, one-time use of rooms in hotels and similar establishments was 20,8% (16,3% in January-September 2022). This indicator was 53,8% in Naftalan, 52,9% in Shabran, 32,3% in Guba, 29,6% in Baku, 27,3% in Beylagan, 26,6% in Lankaran, 23,0% in Barda, 21,0% in Aghjabadi, while in other cities and regions, it was below average.
