The State Statistical Committee held an event dedicated to November 8-Victory Day

On November 7, the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized an event dedicated to November 8, Victory Day.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs who lost their lives in the 44-day Patriotic War.

Speakers at the event emphasized the determination of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and the courage of the honourable Azerbaijani army, which led to restoration of territorial integrity. The Patriotic War was described as a shining chapter in Azerbaijan history, a source of pride and honour for the Azerbaijan people, showcasing a unity of the nation around the “Iron Fist”. They noted that our glorious army, heroic soldiers and officers, who made history in the 44-day struggle for justice, demonstrated to the whole world a strong state and strong army strategy, national unity, solidarity and strong will. The restoration work in the liberated territories was brought to attention, emphasizing the successful implementation of the Great Return program by President Ilham Aliyev.  The importance of bringing back internally displaced compatriots to their ancestral lands in the liberated territories was underscored, acknowledging the significance of this initiative.

Moreover, it was emphasized that the local anti-terrorist measures conducted by Azerbaijan on September 19-20, 2023, led to the full restoration of sovereignty, creating a fundamental basis for peace in the South Caucasus region. October 15, 2023, was marked as a historic day when President Ilham Aliyev, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, raised the state flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aghdara, Khojaly, Askeran, Khojavand, and Khankendi. This event solidified the second Karabakh War in the history of Azerbaijan as a chronicle of honor and heroism over the past hundred years.

Following that, a film dedicated to November 8-Victory Day was demonstrated and the individuals who participated in the Patriotic War and are currently employed at the State Statistical Committee were presented with gifts.

At the end, a group of employees of the State Statistical Committee was awarded the medal “For distinction in the public service” for effective work in the public service in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 3335 dated 22 June, 2022 on “Awarding public officials”. The Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Tahir Budagov congratulated civil servants on the high state award and wished them success in their difficult and honorable work and future activities.
