The award ceremony for the winners of the Statistical Olympiad organized by the State Statistical Committee took place

On November 3, as part of the Heydar Aliyev year, the final stage of the Statistical Olympiad organized by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for senior pupils and high school students took place, followed by a ceremony to honor the winners.

At the event, Mr. Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee, and Mr. Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education, congratulated the participating pupils and students in the Olympiad. They also highlighted the remarkable life journey of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and his unparalleled contributions to the nation. The speakers emphasized that our independence became eternal and irreversible thanks to him.

It was noted that the main goal of holding the Olympiad is to increase the interest of senior pupils and high school students in statistics, to identify talented pupils and students with statistical knowledge, to encourage them and give impetus to their intellectual development, to strengthen the human statistical capacity, to deepen statistical literacy, to increase in awareness about life and activity of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, his contribution to the improvement of the national statistical system in alignment with international standards and its integration into the world statistical system, and in general, to the development of statistical system. It was emphasized that the Olympiad played the role of a new platform for pupils and students to demonstrate their statistical knowledge and skills gained during the study period, at the same time, they had the opportunity to obtain more extensive official statistical information about the science of statistics, as well as events and processes in the socio-economic life of the country.

In his report on the results of the statistical Olympiad, Mr. Yusif Yusifov, Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, highlighted that the statistical Olympiad was organized in accordance with the calendar plan approved by the Board of the State Statistical Committee dated December 14, 2022, No. 8/1, within the framework of the events held in connection with the 100th anniversary of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev as a sign of respect for his dear memory. He emphasized the establishment of an Organizing Committee within the State Statistical Committee to ensure the transparent, objective, and professional organization of the Olympiad, along with the coordination of relevant activities nationwide. The Olympiad adhered to rules and an action plan approved by the Organizing Committee, and an electronic information system was developed to facilitate real-time access to test tasks and results.

A total of 3,106 pupils and 203 students participated in the Olympiad. Among the pupils, Goyushov Namaz Veyis, an 11th-grade student at Agil Mammadov Secondary School in Diyalli village of Ismayilli district, secured the 1st place. Kazimzade Mirjalal Mirkazim, an 11th-grade student at Fayaddin Khanjanov Secondary School in Musakucha village of Masalli district, took the 2nd place. Bakhshiyev Javidan Javid, a 10th-grade student at Aghakhan Guliyev Secondary School in Hirkan settlement of Lankaran district, claimed the 3rd place. Among the students, Topchubashova Yagut Aziz, a 2nd-year master student at Azerbaijan State University of Economics, secured the 1st place. Islamov Israfil Rasim, a 4th-year student at Baku Engineering University, took the 2nd place. Mirzayeva Nigar Ogtay, a 3rd-year student at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, claimed the 3rd place.

At the event, certificates and gifts were presented to pupils and students who advanced to the final stage of the statistical Olympiad, and the winners received diplomas and gifts.
