Foreign trade relations
In January-May 2023 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 185 countries of the world, goods were exported to 106 countries and imported from 175 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country in January-May 2023 made 19602,3 million USD. 12763,6 million USD or 65,1 % of trade turnover made the export value, 6838,7 million USD (34,9%) – import value and consequently positive trade balance reached to 5924,9 million USD. In comparison with January-May 2022, foreign trade turnover decreased in actual prices by 8,2 %, while in real terms it increased by 2,3%. Import in real terms increased by 11,1%, export decreased by 0,5%.
In January-May 2023 the export of non-oil-gas products, compared to the same period of the previous year, increased by 22,1% in actual prices and 18,3% in real terms and made 1465,8 million USD.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 33,1% of foreign trade turnover of the country was per the share of trade operations with Italy, 15,6% – Türkiye, 7,8% – Russia, 4,6% – China, 3,4% - Germany, per 3,1% - India and Greece, 3,0% - Spain, 2,8% - Israel, 1,8% - Czech Republic, per 1,7% - Georgia, Turkmenistan and Romania, 1,5% - France, 1,2% - Ireland, 0,9% - Iran, per 0,8% - Kazakhstan, USA and Austria, 10,6% – other countries.
