Consultations regarding the second phase of the regional project “Improvement of industrial statistics and development of statistical indicators for the analysis of industrial development in some countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia” of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have been held
On February 7-9, 2024 the UNIDO held a seminar within the framework of the regional project “Improvement of industrial statistics and development of statistical indicators for the analysis of industrial development in some countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia” in Vienna. Mr. Yusif Yusifov, Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee and Mr. Elman Gasimzade, Head of the Department of Industry and Construction Statistics attended the event.
The main purpose of the seminar, organized for the management staff of the statistical bodies of CIS member states and structural units on industry statistics, was to conduct consultations on the priorities of the next stage, taking into account the changes in industry statistics during the period following the previous similar project, the implementation of which was completed by UNIDO in 2019. The event focused on improving industry statistics for decision-making and analysis based on official statistical data, strengthening the capacity of statistical agencies with regard to the data needed for monitoring the country’s progress in achieving the SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), meeting the growing demand for statistical data in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution, efficiency in industry, digital economy etc. issues were discussed.
At the seminar, representatives of the participating countries made presentations on the current state of industry statistics, achievements and forthcoming tasks, mutual discussions were held, opinions and suggestions on priorities related to the 2nd stage of the project were presented.
