The ceremony on presentation of final results of the 2006 Azerbaijan Demographic and Health Survey (2006 AzDHS), which was carried out by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan with participation of the Ministry of Healthcare (MH) and assistance of United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Azerbaijan) and United States Children Fund (UNICEF/Azerbaijan), realized on 24 June 2008.
Mrs. Anne Derse, US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Mr. Ismayil Sadiqov, Head of Department of the Cabinet of Ministries, Mr. Bruno Pouezat, UN Resident-Coordinator, Ms. Hanaa Singer, UNICEF Representative and representatives of different international organizations, as well as corresponding ministres and committees were participated in this event.
The survey findings provide estimates for a variety of demografic indicators across country and economic regiones. The 2006 ADHS results are intended to provide the information needed to evaluate existing social programs and to design new strategies for improving the health of the people of Azerbaijan. The 2006 AzDHS also contributes to the growing international database on demographic and health indicators.
