The cooperation between the State Statistical Committee and the Turkish Statistical Institute is being expanded

The delegation led by Mr. Yusif Yusifov, Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) from May 6 to May 10, 2024, to become closely acquainted with its activities and to study its experience in the application of the UN Generic Statistical Information Model (GSIM) and the Generic Activity Model for Statistical Organizations (GAMSO) in official statistics.

During the visit, future collaboration issues between the State Statistical Committee and TurkStat were discussed. The delegation became acquainted with the role, duties, and authorities of TurkStat within the national statistical system of the Republic of Türkiye, its organizational structure, and the operational directions of its structural units. Meetings were held with the leadership of TurkStat, the heads of relevant departments, and specialists. Presentations were given on the GSIM and GAMSO implemented at TurkStat, as well as other areas, and information was provided about achievements gained and tasks ahead.

TurkStat’s President, Mr. Erhan Çetinkaya, met with the delegation and discussions were held around the Memorandum of Understanding to be signed between the State Statistical Committee and the Turkish Statistical Institute, future statistical collaboration perspectives to further strengthen relations between our countries, and other matters of mutual interest.

During the visit, information was provided to Turkish experts about the official statistics system in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the organization of the statistical data production process, the reforms implemented, the tasks ahead, the application of the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM), electronic submission of reports, control over reporting discipline, data processing, quality control tables, analysis of data and preparation and dissemination of publications, production of information on SDG indicators, Azerbaijan Statistical Information System (ASIS), and other main statistical activities.
