Current state of tourism
According to the State Border Service data, in January-June 2024 the Republic of Azerbaijan received 1231,1 thousand or 34,0 percent more foreigners and stateless persons from 179 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 29,2% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 17,3% – Türkiye, 9,7% – India, 8,7% – Iran, 4,1% – Georgia, 3,2% – Saudi Arabia, 3,1% – Kazakhstan, 2,5% – Pakistan, per 1,7% - Uzbekistan and United Arab Emirates, 1,4% - Ukraine, per 1,3% – China, Kuwait and Turkmenistan, 1,1% – Belarus, 12,4% – were citizens of other countries. 68,2% of the arrivals were men and 31,8% were women.
In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the number of arrivals from India increased by 2,5-fold, South Korea – 2,4-fold, China – 2,3-fold, Spain – 1,8-fold, Kazakhstan – 1,8-fold, Saudi Arabia – 1,7-fold, Philippines – 1,6-fold, Kyrgyzstan – 1,6-fold, Oman – 1,6-fold, Iran – 1,5-fold, Pakistan – 47,0%, Tajikistan – 45,8%, Italy – 41,8%, Jordan – 37,6%, Yemen – 37,6%, Kuwait – 37,2%, Turkmenistan – 36,8%, Bahrain – 34,7%, Poland – 34,0%, Egypt – 29,2%, Uzbekistan – 26,9%, USA – 23,6%, Ukraine – 22,2%, Germany – 22,1%, Türkiye – 21,1%, Russian Federation – 19,0%, France – 15,7%, Georgia – 13,1%, United Arab Emirates – 8,1%.
Compared to January-June 2023, the number of arrivals from Gulf countries increased by 49,0% and amounted to 200,0 thousand persons, from EU member countries increased by 30,0% and amounted to 46,7 thousand persons, from the CIS countries increased by 22,3% and amounted to 472,8 thousand persons.
73,5% of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country used air transport, 25,2% - railway and car, and 1,3% - sea transport.
The total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 25,7% compared to January-June 2023 and amounted to 995,2 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 39,1%, Türkiye – 23,7%, Georgia - 17,7%, Russian Federation - 15,4%. 66,4% of the travelers were men and 33,6% were women.
In January-June 2024, 68,0% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who visited foreign countries used air transport, 29,6% railway and car, and 2,4% sea transport.
