Consumer market during January-June 2008

The volume of retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan during January-June 2008 increased 14.9 per cent to 4 milliard 956.6 million manat compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Of the total, 15.6 per cent of turnover was formed by legal entities, 45.6 per cent by natural entities engaged in fairs and markets and 38.8 per cent by private individuals engaged in trade activity. Food products totaling 3 milliard 224.3 million manat as well as non-food products totaling 1 milliard 732.3 million manat were sold by trade networks to the population during the reporting period; this was higher by 10.3 per cent and 27.1 per cent respectively compared to January-June 2007. During the 6 months period the population received paid services amounting to 1 milliard 423.1 million manat, and increase of more than 29.5 per cent. 79.3 per cent of provided services were from legal entities and 20.7 per cent from natural entities. This was an increase in the volume of services provided of 36.5 per cent and 8.1 per cent respectively.
