Large board meeting devoted to the outcomes of 2024 and forthcoming duties for 2025 was held at the State Statistical Committee
On February 14, a large board meeting devoted to activities of statistical bodies in 2024 and forthcoming duties for 2025 was held with participation of the departments of the Administration of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, top management of the State Statistical Committee of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and local and regional statistical offices.
Mr. Tahir Budagov provided a comprehensive overview of the reforms undertaken by the Committee in alignment with tasks of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan aimed at improving official statistics in line with international standards and highlighted the activities of the organization throughout 2024. Additionally, Mr. Tahir Budagov noted that in 2024, the State Statistical Committee placed a strong emphasis on preparing official statistical information in accordance with modern requirements and dedicated its efforts to the development of the national statistical system, aligning its activities with the objectives outlined in the approved Program of Statistical Works for 2024, which has been endorsed in agreement with the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Moreover, the Committee took essential measures to fulfill the tasks outlined in the State Program on the Development of Official Statistics in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2025, the “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development”, the National Action Plan to Strengthen the Fight Against Corruption for 2022-2026, Socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022-2026, Strategy for the development of civil service in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2025, State Program on Socio-Economic Development of the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2025, "Action plan to declare 2024 the year of solidarity for the Green world in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On preparation and conduction of agricultural census in the Republic of Azerbaijan, other normative legal acts, the “Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” adopted by UN General Assembly, as well as to meet the demand for accurate and comprehensive statistical data, providing continuous information support, in cooperation with the UN, Eurostat, IMF, OECD, ILO and other international organizations, to ensure the development of the National Statistical System in response to modern challenges, by expanding the use of administrative information, comprehensive measures were continued to improve the provision of statistical information related to the sustainable development of the country and strengthen the material and technical base and human resources in the field of Statistics to achieve these goals.
As a result of measures taken to increase the level of electronic reception of official statistical reports the share of legal entities and individuals submitting reporting forms electronically through the electronic service” submission of official statistical reports " exceeded 97.0 percent. The work on the multi-pointer Cluster Survey (MICS) carried out in our country within the framework of cooperation with UNlCEF has been completed and a report on its results approved by the decision of the Steering Committee of September 2024, 4 which was Established by the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 2022, 17 No. 526s, published and delivered to users, the electronic version was posted on the official websites of the State Statistics Committee and UNlCEF.
As an implementation of the Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 04 2023, No. 357,”on the preparation and conduct of the census of Agriculture in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2025", In 2024, from July 15 to August 15, a trial census of Agriculture was conducted in a total of 3 farms in 1942 administrative-territorial districts of AGSU region.
"Training was organized for the census staff with the participation of the representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, during the census, for the first time, special software and a census sheet designed to enter data to be obtained using the CAPI method (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing – personal interview through a computer) into tablet-type computers (tablets) were successfully tested, the data was collected by the enumerators via tablets and transmitted to the database.
Work continued to expand the statistical database on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators, together with the relevant government agencies, additional data on 19 new indicators were obtained and thus the number of SDGs indicators provided for data production was increased to 140, of which 109 are indicators defined as national priorities. At the same time, with the initiative of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev to add the 17th goal of mine action to the 18th goal of Sustainable Development, in 2024, for the first time, the collection of data on the National 18th DIM (“activities to combat the mine threat”) indicators began and data production on 14 indicators has been provided.
The website of the Committee (www.stat.gov.az) regularly improved and updated in terms of satisfying the interests of users, the databases included numerous tables, analysis and methodological materials on the main socio-economic indicators. In 2024, an average of 10,4 thousand users visited the website every day, with 91,3 percent from the country and 8,7 percent from foreign countries.
32 annual statistical collections and other publications on various topics have been published, 52 analysis reports and 125 Press reports were prepared. Electronic versions of statistical compilations and bulletins are posted on the committee's website. Local statistical bodies have also published annual statistical collections on regions and cities, 264 analysis reports have been prepared.
According to the decision adopted at the 71th meeting of the Council of Heads of statistical services of CIS member states, held on December 5, 2024, the leadership of the above-mentioned Council was transferred to Azerbaijan in 2025. 87 employees of the committee participated in 63 online events organized by various international organizations and National Statistics bodies of foreign countries, 60 employees participated in 64 full-time events, as well as experts of the Committee continued their activities as part of international expert and working groups.
Finally, summing up the large board meeting, the Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Mr Tahir Budagov brought to the attention that according to the results of the assessment of the state of execution of decrees, orders and instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the results of 2023 through the “State Control Information System”, the committee ranks the 1th place among the central executive bodies of the committee, he gave specific instructions to the relevant structures of the Committee for the timely and qualitative implementation of the forthcoming tasks.
