The State Statistical Committee is represented at the 21st International Conference of Labour Statistician in Geneva

The 21st International Conference of Labour Statisticians, organized by the International Labour Organization, is being held in Geneva, Switzerland from October 11 to 20, 2023. Mr. Nemat Khuduzade, the Head of the Department of Labour Statistics at the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is participating in the conference, joined by 450 representatives from national statistical institutions, relevant government agencies, as well as international and non-governmental organizations from 140 countries.

The conference started with a special plenary session dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the International Conference of Labour statisticians.

The event discusses new statistical standards on informal economy, improvement of International Standard Classification of Occupations, indicators of decent work and related Sustainable Development Goals, methods of their assessment, methodology for assessing voluntary labour activity and the implementation of household works without payment, current challenges in the implementation of the recommendations of the resolution on labour activity and employment at the national level, and future cooperation directions in this area, the opportunities for obtaining data on labour statistics during the Covid-19 pandemic, statistical standards on labour migration, assessment of child labour and forced labour, use of administrative data on labour statistics, etc. issues.

During the discussions, the representative of the State Statistical Committee gave detailed information on the application of new standards on types of labour activity, including employment and underemployment, at the national level in the last year, continuation of obtaining data on labour statistics even during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the use of administrative data.

Furthermore, amendments to the resolution on labour activity, employment and underemployment, as well as resolutions on the informal economy, international labour migration statistics, measurement of income from employment, and the methodological recommendations submitted to the conference by the International Labour Organization in order to improve the standards for statistical assessment of labour relations covering all types of labour activity according to labour market requirements, and other issues will be discussed at the conference.
