World Statistics Day was celebrated solemnly in the Republic of Azerbaijan

In accordance with United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 69/282 dated 3 June 2015, World Statistics Day was solemnly celebrated in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a series of events to ensure the high-level commemoration of World Statistics Day.

On the eve of the Day, the 3rd International Statistical Forum titled “Prospects for the Development of Statistics: The Role of International Projects” was held in Baku on 24–26 September https://stat.gov.az/news/index.php?lang=en&id=6471. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, addressed the participants of the Forum https://president.az/en/articles/view/70170 and congratulated statisticians on the occasion of World Statistics Day. In his address, the Head of State emphasized that the importance of statistics is increasing year by year, becoming one of the key tools for assessing social progress, the effectiveness of state policies, and the ability to respond to global challenges. He underlined that the national statistical system of Azerbaijan is being consistently developed, and the production of official statistical data in accordance with international standards and through innovative approaches remains a focus of constant attention.

As part of the ongoing activities, a statistical olympiad was organized among high school students and university students, and the winners were awarded https://stat.gov.az/news/index.php?lang=en&id=6496.

In addition, articles by employees of the State Statistical Committee and regional statistical offices were published in the media https://stat.gov.az/menu/15/?lang=en, and a press conference was held https://stat.gov.az/news/index.php?lang=en&id=6496.

Considering the significance of World Statistics Day, relevant events were held not only in the capital city but also across all regions of the country https://stat.gov.az/menu/15/?lang=en.

A special issue of the “Statistical News” scientific-practical journal dedicated to World Statistics Day was published to inform the public about the achievements of statistical science, economic and statistical analyses, key statistical indicators and their calculation methodologies, as well as recent international developments in the field of statistics http://etsim.azstat.gov.az/upload/File/publication/11-2025/publication-60-file_en.pdf. The special issue of the “Statistical News” scientific-practical journal includes congratulatory messages addressed to Azerbaijani statisticians on the occasion of World Statistics Day by the Director of the UN Statistics Division, the Chairman of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS, and the heads of statistical institutions of Bulgaria, the Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Türkiye. It also features articles on current statistical issues by the Chairmen of the State Statistical Committee, the State Customs Committee, and the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as by the heads and senior officials of national statistical offices of Kazakhstan, Georgia, Serbia, Hungary, Belarus, and Türkiye, and prominent Azerbaijani scholars.
